just to add:
POP is a musical genre capable of including every other genre in itself as long as it doesn't stop being POP. also pop is dificult to define and every genre after becoming mainstream or more accepted tends to be absorved by pop.
that's why pop will never die

Green day may gone commercial but this isn't nescary a sell-out.
For example colin/voice of cod does release tracks on the psp game wipeout. It is commercial, but not a sell-out. People just take the chances they get and i think we all would do it this way.
If u are green day and there is this record label that say 'Hey we love your music, we can make u big and rich if u want to' would u say 'no no thanks, ill stay underground'?

just to clarify, i'm not agaisn people getting BIG money from they're work, i'm agains what people have to do to get that money.
was that clear?
if you can make great music and sell a lot that's great, if you're making bad music and that music is being spread to the world it is a big embarassement and you are contributing to the dumbification of mankind, where music is supposed to do the opposite...

in reality though, mankind gets what it deserves. if bad tunes get spread accross the world, then mankind is dumb for sure.
my respect goes to those who make music from the bottom of their hearts and not their pockets and to those individuals who still have not lost the taste in good music in this commercialized and souless world.
as for mankind, i couldn't care less.
