Hi ppl, i have a weird problem with a SB live value card: When i play DVD movies, midi files or any kind of audio files, i hear a loud and annoying hiss (white noise). The weirdness is, that in the past (couple of days ago ")) the card functioned just fine. I've installed the current drivers again, newer drivers ,older drivers, even the APS drivers, but nothing helped.
10x all helpers, Tom. |

Try muting all of the line-on, microphone etc. channels. Maybe some of them are turned on and that's what is making the noise. Also try muting other stuff you never use. |

maybe your fan doesn't work properly and your card overheated or something. try checking the fan or put another one if you have many cards inside. and like bilbo said, it's always better to keep distance between the cards so they won't get overheated. |

10X for your help, but the problem is now solved. I simply hit the computer a few times, and the hiss was gone (I'm not kidding!). |

sometimes the simple way works best... but i dont think u should hit your computer... your HD does about 5400-7200 Rpm (rounds per minute) if he takes a hit it might be the end of him... besides you shouldn't hit computers they have feelings too !!! (that's what happens after spending too many hours online :) ) |

Seriously now, the HD, CD and DVD are the most nosy devices in the computer (unless you have a Kryo-tech air conditioning cooling system hehe) Even more, the cd and dvd are S/PDIFed and MPC3ed to your Live bastard! eerr blaster! indeed a hard knock life for our little card...
The hard working CD can also produce pretty nasty EMP (Elctro Magnetic Pulse) aka the hiss in your sound.
Anyway the loose part has come to its place! Wonders of... kicking :) |

Check out if you hear the hiss sound all the time or only when other devices are working like the CD,DVD etc...
I'm only asking that cause you mentioned that a hit solved the problem, if only for a little while...
anyway, creative support might be a good idea. |
