i have been listning to the classical music whenever i need to chill be it the mountains or home.. i recommend that to all of you chill music lovers here! not only does it let you chill it recharges your batteries completely since it has all kinds of layers from happiness to sorrow all done..
using instruments like sitar, tabla, veena, baansuri(flute) etc. etc.
artists you can listen to:

Pt. Ravi Shankar - sitar
Annapurna Devi - sitar
Chandrakant Serdeshmukh - siatr
Uma Shanker Mishra- sitar
Ram Narayan - Sarangi
Kishan Maharaj - Tabla
Zakir Hussain - Tabla
Dhruba Ghosh - Sarangi
Kumar Bose
Swapan Chaudhuri - Tabla
Gopal Das - Pakhawaj
Sabri Khan - Sarangi
Sultan Khan - Sarangi

if you can get hold of these.. try music of the rivers, music of the deserts, music of the winds (composed by some of the above mentioned artists), absolutely beutiful, it was released under times music in india about 10 years ago, but cd's are no longer available at music shops!

ustad bismillah khan is for shenai and not vocals (or else i have neva heard him in vocals i guess but his shenai is a class act)

ahhh almost forgot

try n listen to Ananda Shankar not exactly classical but worth listenin to very picturesque music           the problem with valuing art is, till u dont understand it, it's worthless but wen u do understand it, it's priceless!!

was only listning RAGA - KAMOD.. total bliss!

ananda shankar- isn't that the dance school in kolkata, i completely didn't know he made music will give him his due name a few cd's for me please..

U. Shrinivas - i saw him live once with the Shakti ensemble which pretty much is Zakhir huissain and John Mcglaughin - oof he put the two masters to shame ill say.

was it december of 2004 in delhi..

watching someone live on the intrument is a wonderful thing isn't it..

these days a lot of live acts are being organised to get the youth of india back to the music that we all must cherish and savour!!!

how about shubha mudgal live.. she has such a powerful voice she brought me to tears! when she sings the senses dance and its a feast to hear her live!!!

this concert (though not the most classical of classical concerts) made me realize that instrumental/classical music is highly underappreciated by the younger generations in our country...
imo, this music is to be heard live!
