Hi all,
I am looking for a hihat that sounds like a open hat but pitched to make it sound a bit mechanical.
I can't find a very good example. But
comes pretty close. It is the main offbeat hihat, although it is a little off-off beat Hallucinogen also has a track with a similar hihat but can't find the track.
Does this make any sense? I have tried a whole bunch of hats to get it.. but never came close. Does anybody have a sample or a way to make it myself?

yeah have you tried a pitch envelop on the sample ,or you can synthetize it to open more possibility .

There's a couple hihats going on. There isn't just one open.
If you're talking about the one in :35 - that area--
try a bitcrusher. Tweak it til you get the pitch of it where you want.
I actually was more interested in this track for the mastering. The stereo image feels SO wide. Sorry for off-topic lol. yeah try a bit crusher.
Also, don't beat yourself up if it isn't exact. Drums are mostly about having the right sample to begin with and not as much some crazy effects. I do like those smooth high hats though.

it s should not be at mastering you make the tune wide, it s more mixing stage work as you have way more control to make it wide (some processor can open the sound nicely at mastering , but i woudlnt rely just on this to have a nice stereo,it just bonus)

i often at spots in the track put a flanger with a lot of depth and feedback and mix it in/out slowly.
