Hi!
Im having problems on how i should aply a highpass to different channels,
I know drums, synth and fx should have there own highpasssettings. But is there an easier way to do this instead of insering a highpassfilter on every channel ?
Could i have like 1 highpasschannel for all synths in my song as an inserteffekt to where i send all my synths.

And anyone of you who can recomend a good highpass filter, i use fruity loops.
I´ve used the highpassfilter from hyperism, it sounds good but it looses it´s settings when i reopen my song.

Please help me

I dont see it that hard to apply HP on each channel but the easy way to do it is to send groups of channels (snares, hats, perc) to a group channel in the mixer and apply HP. you can also do it with an Eq cut and not Filter.

Normally you will have to eq each instrument individually while mixing (e.g. with the build in eq of cubase or an insert-effect). Like billy said you can easily set lowpass-/ highpass-filters there without a special plugin.           www.myspace.com/mentris

Yeah i agree, setup a eq add first effect in ur mixer channels, i like to use a waves req2 or 4.

And then u can also send these channels to group channels.

Filters are one of the most important things in getting the sound you want.
I filter almost everything, as said either by Cut off certain freq with an eq or sticking a filter on them.
Yes sending grouped drums to a bus and then filtering the bus like billy said is an option and would give a nice effect if combined with the unfiltered drums but you should really filter every channel to get the sound you want from every instrument/sound.

In my opinion the best filters going around are the "Filterbank" made by McDSP!!!

Check it out it's amazing!!

They also do amazing multi bank compressors and other stuff...

@Martyn

They do both versions as far as I'm aware.
I use Mac but i'm sure they do PC version as if not they would be losing big amount of useres....

antares filter rocks! But too cpu consuming to put on every channel. Req 4 and 6 from waves too... I find the hp filter from fruity too drastic + if you aren't carefull you might forget to turn of the +...db gain.

Something to be aware of... I've done some tests and the HPF on Waves REQ only completely rejects out-of-band audio if the Q is set to 1. Setting it any steeper allows through some frequencies below the turnover frequency.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
