I think 145-149bpm is enough for making psy atmosphere and a deep vibrations. Anyway u can change the " visual" speed of a tune by changing bassline tone or by making bassline shorter or longer. I prefer to play trax about 144-148bpm.           The Secret Is In The Future...

I guess he means when the tempo varies in the track.

And, well, I've never really heard a track where it fits good...

The fast BMP music is surfacing more and more.....

1) some people refuse to call it trance (valid reasons are given)
2) some people refuse to call it psy (also valid reasons are given)

3) and some say this is an every day psy trance (also valid reasons are given)

for those of us who in category 1) and 2) please take a wide open view on psy trance music phenomena: how long ago was it when you first heard night time psy trance at 146-148 bpm? what was you first reaction?
what was reaction of you friend who only heard instrumental music before?

There are times ( on the properly structured ) psy trance gathering when 160 bpm is not enough and 185 maybe just about right.

I admit that I cannot dance under fast bmp. but what is inside my head is totally different story...

Not every fast BMP track is cool. some sounds like fast forward music. but some sounds exactly right and you do not even notice high bpm.

Humans always push for speed, to break the sound barrier! This is same. this is a healthy sign of evolving music. whether or not you enjoying it every day or only on special occasion -- everybody personal thing. Important, that you have a choice, and to know that there is something else out there that waiting to be discovered           - - - - - - - -

i cant dance to very fast music as i do to slower stuff, but i still do, i just stomp on every second kick. i like dancing slow-mo

other than this i dont think about speed at all. i like my own music between 128 and 136 bpm, but i can listen to everything.           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

i got countless tracks that go to 160+ bpm but that people even didn't noticed it till i showed them the speed...

fast BPM does not always say how fast your track goes i even made a 270 bpm song but "doubled" the lengths, so it goes in fact at around 135 BPM but for the quickness of some details the speed was needed (then you can make very fast hihat rolls that give a more "live" aspect

not to mention the slow down by using trioles or by using accents and/or melodies (a fast kick but floating slow stringpad tends to "slow" the impression of speed a lot

also changing the bpm depends again on your track/way it is brought/set/story... it depends how you listen to it too

but i know out of experience that speed or BPM does not say everything... the patterns you use or the way you construct your song can make from a track with a speed of 80 bpm it to sound like if it is at 160 bpm or vice versa

it all thus depends on your patterns and how you make your loops...           no situation is stronger then a heart that dares to love
so may the force of life light and love be with you

I once went to a night that played 200-250bpm music. It was fucking ridiculous. People weren't actually dancing, just swaying from side to side. I didn't dance but I didn't leave the room either I wanted to hear it just out of interest. Watching everyone was really weird. The speed of the music just seemed to stop the energy. It was as if they were dancing because they felt they had to rather than enjoying it. It was a little freaky. I think there's a line to be drawn sometimes ..           - - - - - - - -

2 things people may need to consider:

1: to stop "bpm competition" ( and not use 160bpm track as penis enlargement tool - damn this was genious' comment in this topic hehe )

2: to stop "new things stoppers"

I also think that seems like this Rajaran dude who started the topic and posted several times throughout the thread may be a brazilian guy that is all about soft psy mainstream music and its just one of those guys who feel threathned by upcoming dark artists and djs in parties here so he feels the urge to declare war on this and start topics about it, like some other guys from brazil who regularly post here on isratrance are doing lately...

a good thing if this was the case here is that he got a lot of enlightenment on the subject and new things to think about.

if I am totally wrong and this wasnt the case here at all, please accept my apologies.

here's my two cents :

speeding up bpm a bit really doesnt matter...
some other types of musical prejudice are way worser than that!

remember when night music was 146 and 147 and then some guys started doing 149 ?
then it became normal and new 149 was 152.. and things are always changing soo... no barriers!

and if you check, morning music was always about 142 - 144 and then Shift when started to do more full on like stuff and more morning feeling music has released a track in 152... (and nobody called him bad names for that. )

BUT bpm competition is another thing, and its just stupid imo.
there are tracks that just feel like they have to be fast and they re good fast tracks !
and there are other tracks that u listen to and just feel like they re slow but were meant to be slow and rock !

( I just dont like when someone uses high bpm as a lame way to enhance energy on track or something instead of putting more efforts in construction of the music itself - other than that, fine by me)

It always makes me smile when people talk about fast tracks as if it's something that's only just happened. You guys should have been around in the mid 90s - the average tempo was around 150bpm even back then! in fact, we've just remixed one of our tracks from 1996 and we've slowed it down from 166bpm to 150 so it won't scare the little kiddies.

There is no bpm competition. Some people write faster music than others - that's all.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
