hehe, a "little bit of goa". its goa all the way man, and i like it!! ok, the beat sounds modern but the rest is good old fashioned spaced out trance.

while listening to it i got flashbacks of the first goa partys i went to in the 90s.. everevolving meandering 303 lines swirling around in space to a monotonous hypnotizing groove.. ahhh
keep it coming!

I like the quantized swing yo got going on. Doesn't work on faster tracks, but works here =)

A bit overmastered! destroys the overall sound. But i like it! nice trip man!

GJ!

Yeah have some swing here , with mastering I have problems and you will see this consequence.. perhaps mix is not too good , but in the future I think this will be better Anyway I like that you like it ! Thanks for this opinion

sounding good, would love a downloadable lossless version to make a really fair appraisal though, then i could check it in the studio.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

i would if he had downloads enabled

ok, just checked again, and he now has downloads enabled (he didn't before), but it's a lossy mp3 file, meh...

happy to give it a listen through the Crookwood converters and ATCs in the treated studio, but it has to be a file worthy of that.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

but you don't "pay" for file size on soundcloud, you pay for the length of the track. anyway, shoot me a link to a FLAC or a WAV via PM or email, and i'll be happy to report back!           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

OK, I just took a listen to the .wav version. Here are my comments as I listened:

Subjectively

1) Lovely sounds and arrangement, totally my type of trance, very much old Goa style, I love it! I think the only thing the arrangement is missing for complete authenticity would be some trippy vocal samples from a sci-fi film.

Technically

2) From a technical standpoint, I feel that there is way too much limiting and there are too many inter-sample peaks. Your RMS only 4-5dB, so the track has no room to breath. Are you mixing into a limiter? I'd highly suggest not mixing into a limiter, turning up your monitor gain to compensate, and then getting the mix to sound as good as you possibly can, with no digital overs, in 24 bit, before even thinking about a limiter. If you are just putting the limiter on afterwards, then please don't hit it so hard. I think it would sound better with 4-6dB more of headroom, and if you are going to get this mastered, you'll probably be asked to take off the limiter before hand anyway.

3) The bass line not very clear or defined, you could maybe do with some more subtractive EQ down there.

4) The high mids and hi end sound very phasey. This is often a result of using too much M/S processing. It's hard to describe, but kind of sounds like the track is trying to pull my head apart up there. Of course, maybe that's what you wanted, but I feel it could sound better.

But overall I loved it. My main trance days were spent in London in the mid 90's, so it brought back lots of nice memories!

All the best,
