It has gold rays in it.

It also contains a special coded message just for Isratrance hardware enthusiasts.

Wow... that didn't seem like very constructive criticism there nolightatend. Why take a dump on him. It's fine that you don't like the track. Honestly, I didn't dig it either, but at the same time there are ways to express your opinion that won't make it seem like you are being impolite to someone. Perhaps your english isn't the best, but maybe you should elaborate on the things that you did and did not like about the track. There are some points that I do agree with you upon, but the way in which you express those comments conveys a tone that you have very little respect for the individual's track that he wanted us to give our opinions on.

I honestly wasn't to enthused by this track. The overall feel of the track was very ravey and reminiscent to old skool electronica before it was split into all of the genres. It definitely has a very uplifting feel, and I could see this being played in same style as hard dance or progressive trance. I think that it might have too many points where the beat drops out, it does seem that the ideas in each part don't get a chance to develop.

Maybe staggering the arrangement of the sounds will really assist how the feel of the track goes... It seems like you start out with the main melody in the beginning and it stays for half of the track. I think that some of samples are a little too over the top though. The melodies that were used sounded stagnant and could afford to use some modulation on them. Not bad for a first attempt, but I don't really find it very psychedelic. It does have the melodic goa influence, but not enough interesting sounds.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Thanks for the sensible input. I referred to the track as a "schizophrenic remix" because it is more than a bit comedy oriented and does not try to be perfect in its transitions or melodies. It stops and starts a lot. Your observations are pretty spot on.

Thing is, I am not interested in making much "proper" psy really, I only listen to it and cop bits and pieces of the style into other areas and works. This was more of a lab work, just something I would open up every couple of days and noodle with. The ideas are not really cohesive or fluid. And yeah, there are loads of stupid samples all over the place. Funny that you mention rave, I've gotten that more than once, and I actually like old school rave better than most modern psy.

Completely understandable... I think that if that was what you were going for, then you definitely succeeded!           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

i understand brod...

...when i took the samples from awakening i too was tempted to mess around with it to create strange sounding stuff...

it's too easy when you have good material just waiting to be twisted..

in all the whole psyscene takes itself to seriously...

strange for a genre that was supposed to be open minded and experimental... maybe that's all gone...           roll a joint or STFU :)

Amen to that. I have always felt that there is really only ONE "genre" here--dance music. Groove. Everything else is about copping bits and techniques from wherever they amuse you. Genres were invented to oppress and pigeonhole musicians, for the sake of the sales and suits. The curmudgeons can sit around all day crossing their arms, shaking their heads, and demanding perfectly genrefied, flatlined derivative works in order for musicians to be seen as cool, but y0, I'd rather be an uncool innovator than a cool copycat.
