Acid: To get something started it's more about what people you know have, rather than what you have. I know enough people now that their resources alone could run a party, I would just have to make a few calls.

First thing to concern yourself with (when you're ready to throw a party) is getting a venue. No venue = no party. You can brainstorm and dream of all the ideas you want, but if you don't have a place for them, then they're just gonna sit in your head. Your ideas might also be limited by the space you find.

Second is to connect with the local scene. Parties require sound, deco, djing equipment and djs. You should get to know the people who have these things at their disposal and are willing to bring it to a party of yours. Most of the leg work is in finding a venue. Bringing stuff to a party is the easy part, and most people in the psy scene are willing to contribute to an event in some way.

Along with connecting with people (and what should be done first imo), help out at a few events. This will show people that you are true in your intentions and it will also give you a ton of great experience to see and be part of the inner workings. Seeing everything happen from start to finish is a lot less stressful when everything isn't on your shoulders. Helping out with parties is another great way to meet people with resources to help you throw your party.

When you've done all that, be prepared to lose money on your first event .

Hope this helps and good luck. Always great to have more people helping out.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

We would LOVE to help out with an event. Our biggest problem through all of this is the people we know.... which is next to no one.

We have been to so many of these events and met none of the people who organize them.

OOHHHH trust me, we know WHO the people are that organize them, but have we ever talked to them... no.

This is our own fault because we are always consuming at these events and never really socialize. Not because we don't want to, but because of how intimidating talking and upholding a conversation can be while in such a state of mind.

Now an easy solution would be to not consume...right? Well it would be the case had we not worked the same day as the party and were already tired before coming to the event. So we consume for the sheer purpose of staying awake.

From this point on we would like to be more involved in the planning and organization of such events. We want to help!

This is what we have at our disposal. We have 4 PA speakers (Tapco Thump 15" 400W), we have a Denon 1200 (mixer, two deck set up) We have a van, We have some solar energy (for some lighting and minor things), We have some UV reactive paintings (made by my girlfriend, along with more paint and supplies if anyone would like to create more), We have a Nikon D60 digital SLR (Tri-pod, printer), we have some lighting (black light, plasma disk light, sting lighting) And last but not least we have ourselves. We are super motivated and want to get involved in any way possible.

We love what we have seen of this community so far, which is why we want to be even more of a part of it now.

For us, its not about the money. Its about the spirit of the event and the people and the love and the psy. Thats it.

Thank you all again and again and again.

Just sounds like to me you need to talk to these people. I don't understand the "intimidation" you feel, but know that orgs always like to have a helping hand.

Have you tried helping to clean up at the end of the party and talking to them then? Volunteer to sweep the floor and go from there.

Or maybe not consume and drink some red bull instead?          http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I don't understand the "intimidation" either.

I'm incapable of going anywhere without making a point of connecting with the people who created my intention for being there. I practically feel obligated to meet and thank them.

Next event you go to, just make contact with the people organizing it in advance. Thank them for the event, wish them good luck, take Ascensions advice and offer to help cleanup when it's over. When you get there, introduce yourself to the person at the door/gate, say you were talking to 'so and so' online about volunteering with cleanup, could they point them out to you please so you can say hi?

It's that easy. Just participate. Be responsible. Don't get fucked up. Contribute to the event instead of just consuming it.

Good luck! You put out a lot of good energy online, just take that with you.

I was offering a nicer response than just saying "man up", which is what I really feel           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

hmm...

OOOOOHHH trust me, we know who these people are

what do you "consume" that makes you intimidated to talk to people who are 9 times out of ten going out of their way to talk to every person at their event....

I agree, maybe curb your consumption of whatever is manifesting said fear of socializing, help clean up, and just in general, be social and sociable....i speak from experience, its far more rewarding making real connections than maintaining a bubble of your own experience at psy-dance events

And chuck.... who burnt your coffee? u know how we do round here, more specifically, we talk...a lot           Wake walking through your sleep dream

Well the intimidation is only induced by the chemicals. Anyone who has ever tripped would know that at times it is difficult to have a conversation. And when I say conversation, I mean talking in depth about a specific topic.

I mean this is personally how it is for me.

Not saying that all you out there need to know exactly what I'm talking about.

Either way thats not the point. The point is... I have never really talked to the organizers of these events. Whatever reasons may be it still doesnt change that fact.

And its not like we NEVER ever talked to anyone from these events. We have interacted and gotten to know some of the regulars at these events but we never got into these types of conversations.

Up until a month or so ago we didnt even have the equipment we have now, so we never thought to talk to anyone about organizing events. We never even really thought SERIOUSLY about doing it... it was just a dream... or so we thought. We started making it happen when we began to believe in our own capabilities to shape our reality. Our inspiration was due to the theories of Quantum Physics and our rebirth at the Pine Barrens on June 1st.

Since buying our things we haven't had much opportunity to go to any recent events because we have been super broke. We have missed at least 4 events recently and thats not like us. Since Repsychle on Halloween (our first indoor psy party) we have barely missed a single event. Prior to this we only ever knew of the Pine Barrens (3 times we went)

Plus another reason why we never spoke to anyone about getting involved in making the events is because we have very little musical knowledge. I have been making some music with FL Studio but know nothing about sound systems and anything having to do with it.

All of these things were just excuses... we have no excuse now. We plan to start opening our mouths and getting involved.

We are newbies to this whole environment. I mean come on, how much am I supposed to know about the scene if I only just discovered it June 1st 2008?

This is why we are here... to hear from those who do know. Who are experienced, who have a little more wisdom.

We are eager to learn, and eager to share what we learn with others.

So please, don't look at us (figuratively speaking) and judge us for not knowing as much as you know. :-(

We never claimed to know anything about anything.

So please share your wisdom, advice, knowledge with us lesser informed people.

So far all your feedback has be extremely helpful.

:-D

Please fill our sponge brains with all the lovely liquidy information you can.

hmm....

I'd say, next event, just bring a pound of plain yerba mate leaf, a filter straw, a nalgene, some fruit, and instant vegetable soup for when you wanna fill that belly and get some rest...eat ONLY and drink ONLY this menu, and ask whoever you talk to first who organized the event, then go up to whoever they point to, ask if you can help, and well... it generally goes from there           Wake walking through your sleep dream

To Acid_Dream: suffice it to say your presence has been made known. Introduce yourself to one of the DJ's, they're the ones typically holding designer beers in their hands. Yes, and everyone involved appreciates garbage pick-up and carrying a few bags out of the spot (outdoors).

I understand many aspects of social intimidation thru personal experience and reflection. In particular, there is this effect that when either you or another is tripping [on a variety], the face reflects an intimidation of the mind-state, unless you've reduced such substances to mere party favors. Many people go into personal "bubbles" during trips and this is not necessarily conducive for socializing. If, on the other hand, you dance for hours, along with the same people on the floor, you can build an informal trust. This is simply my experience. I can recall coming out of a psycho-physiological burst ;^) during which I realized that I had been dancing in the same spot for hours and had virtually no psychic contact with those people around me who I knew had also been dancing for hours in the same area. We were doing our personal trips into the music. Once I regained my posture and I made a rather proactive eye-contact, beaming joy from the night's events. We were family after that. It seems ridiculous to dance with people for literally hours and not connect interpersonally. The nut-jobs and ministry of silly dancers, up near the front, much good, much good.

something like that...
