I don't think you can make tracks with a piano, but you can use the piano as a midi controller. All you need now is a sound generator. Go and read all the threads in here for additional info. :-) |

Yat, I transformed also not long ago from a collector to a creator(hope so..) and basiclly c if u can lay your hands on a good software - I started when i got reason, than got cubase 3.7 and sound forge 5.0. I can tell you that to my level now it is to much possibilities and power softwarewise. in sound forge u can create any sound from the level of wave reason is actually a complete studio - that i feel comfortable with cubase can b your basic soft if you r comf with, while using the other to generate sounds and exporting them to cubase. it takes more time to learn the basics this way - so you can start with fruity loops 3. I just skeeped this phase.. P.S buy yourself monitors - tannoy reveal r not expensive and give a diecent value per money - though they r not the cream.. BOM,~tdme |

lets start from the beggining (i have time 2 explain) to make music u need a sequencer- a program or machine that tell everything (synths, programs etc) what to play, when to play and how to play. in software we r talking about 1 of the 4: fruity loops, cakewalk, Logic audio and Cubase. these r the most popular. u can also do sequensing on Reason. easiest to learn is Fruity.
on the sequencer u WRITE the track. u lay your instruments parts, effects etc.
in order for the sequencer to work it has to give orders to something - synths that r connected to the computer, virtual synths on the computer or wavs that u drop into the sequencer.
we r now talking audio only (no hardware synths connected) so u need a software with which u can edit the wave files B4 dropping them to the sequencer (shortening them, fixing their tempo, fade in/outs, volume level of the wave etc etc etc.) fro that there r many many programs esr of which are wavelab, acid and soundforge.
u need banks of files (drums, effects etc) with which to work. Fruity and Reason come with sound banks (not the best but enough to get u started).

keyboard will healp you to make the music with more feeling.if you have a midi cable and reason for eg. than you set midi in,for the instrument of choice in the reason sequencer, and start to play.. you have also pattern devices in reason which have a built in sequencer and allows you to play them directly. - your comp is enough for now, cpu wise. its good to have a lot of ram memory though. - you need a good sound card, and not all the sound blaster craps. eg. delta 44 or 66 or the luna of creamware which is more pro. all softwares can b purchased in dealers like music shop, or can b obtained illegaly from friends..(who said that??) good lack,~go! |

Dear YAT::) Listen man...it's not so hard! Connect your keyboard/piano to your computer with your MIDI cable... Download fruityloops (it's the easiest software) and then make some music...:) |
