psytrance is trance...
psychill is chillout... what this section is about.
and sometimes we need faster moments in our chillout session.
Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

they are different things, seeing as at most festivlas they have seperate areas... psy chillout is slower, often withou beats, but has the same feel to it as psytrnce, alien fx, sonic synthetic soundscapes and trippy moods... it's much more experimental, no rules apply, and you can 4/4, just at a slower rate... at the psychill stage you'll find anything from Cypress Hill to Pink Floyd To Laroz to Shpongle and even sometimes Zorba's album... it's a chance to lose yourself ina land of bliss, without the chaos of thumping beats, it's eveolved from the story telling of old school goa, to story telling with soft melodies and groovy beats |

For me the ambient side of psychedelic trance, is the real "psychedelic" (as in mind altering) music of our time the dancefloor stuff is often nothing more than the same dumb repetative beat all night. While ambient (I dont use the term chill out because I don't like what it's come to mean) you have a whole world of atmospheres and textures and if you listen to a talented dj this can be twice as powerful taking you off into other galaxies, powerful as anything dancefloor trance can offer |

well sometimes i play some trippy, liquidy trance in the chillout, just pitch it down to about 130 bpm, and add drones and other layers with extra decks if they are provided....
but basically its a free-form sound environment where the dj has more opportunity to "play" and make odd combinations and changeups as they see fit, its not as rigid as the expectations on the trance-floor, ie, keeping the beat pumping.
but i will say that playing trance has changed the way i play ambient...
