Ok heres the scenario. A few people have told me that in order to promote my own music, a good way of doing it is becoming a known DJ, then promoting your own music. So now I am faced with a large problem. Getting artists to OK me using their songs in a DJ mix that is to be burned on a CD. How shall I go about doing this? If there are any artists on the board reading this I love to mix all kinds of trance and house styles so feel free to lend me your permissions. If anyone can guide me as how to get permissions Id greatly appreciate it.

You don't have to be a DJ to promote yourself. Demos are fine too and that's what most unknown artists do.
