hello,

i make some songs for some years just for fun.
I used to make with reason but nowadays i use sonar rewired with reason for drums, vsts like vanguard, rhino2, albino and some plug ins from waves bunddle.

My machine is very cheap. Amd sempron 2000ghz with 512 of ram and audiocard on board.

u can check 2 of my most recent songs in here:

www.fotolog.net/madent ( its very amateur but if u guys listen lemme know it )

so now i m with the oportunit of build a home studio and i m gonna start with the computer.

so im looking forward for a nice config to start a home studio for produce/record and some mastering

i checked that config:

Intel core 2 duo E6700 2.66ghz/4mb cache
MB Intel dg965 ltck
RAM 2g/ddr2/800mhz
hd 250 gb 7.200 rpm - serial aTA.
AudioCard: Audiophile 192.

what u guys think bout it, what should i change ?

thanks man

what would be the problem with the audiophile ? the other option i checked was delta 1010

but i figured out that maybe it would be a lil "overpowered" for a home studio.

i intend to produce some trance with vsts and make some experimental music with instruments like guitar, percursion and bass

What would you recommend in that price range Atropa? Can't beat the price of the Audiophile 24/96 for what it is. Low latency, basic, in/out card.

sony vaio for sure is nice but indeed overpriced. i would not buy one again. i've read reports about them which say that after three years it often gives troubles. mine is entering this 3 year period and indeed i am getting (so far non solveble) problems with running cubase. some months ago in a very hot and humid climate it just did not work.

most of all: do good research if you want to buy a laptop. if you got an eye one a model check the internet boards first if there are issues. and do the research also on the combi of soundcard and laptop.

Vermeee, what is your budget for a laptop ?
you know it is not so convenient to work with laptop small display... and you need a big one for music.

bilbo,

2k bucks maybe lil more.

ye know bout that problem with the display, but my thoughts bout getting a laptop was based in the fact that im very road people.. always travelling and some places i go i like to take my cpu with me for make music... i like to make music far away from the city..for me its the best spot..but i m still living in the city so with a laptop it would be more convenient.. ( but its not a must )

helloooooo,

is macbook a good choise ? i read it doesnt come with the 8 pin firewire... and the 4 pin fireware cause latency sometimes.......

that latency is really a big problem or is insignificant ?

it would be core 2 duo 13''3, 2,16 ghz, 1 giga of ram, hd 160g , more detail here :

http://www.precomania.com/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=37676201

about the audio interface dunno yet. is it a good choice?

Hi Vermee,

friend of mine just bought the mentioned macbook and it's sweet, very silent and powerful enough to make music.

the firewire800 port is mainly for powering the plugged tools (eg soundcard) and is faster too...but still you can connect on a firewire400 a good soundcard (eg rme fireface) and will have a good performance with small latency

hello all

well... more doubt

i cheked the firewire 410:

it says it has the firewire pin 6, the macbook would come only with the 4 pin . what could i do bout it ?

It has 8 analogic outs, whats the need of 8 analogic outs beside make some surround system ?

does it come with A/D converter ?

if i wanted to record some guitar or bass or something like that would it be able ?

What bout the unbalanced i/o ? is that a problem ?

thats it.... seeeeeeeeeee u
