help with strange cubase problem

please help my project is f..up suddenly.
the sample rate in the project went to 48 kHz while i normaslly use 44.1 kHz. using motu 828 mkII. cubase sx3.
and every individuel audio sample became a little shorter as if i went from a faster to a slower project. i can strech the samples to their original lenght but it drives me crazy that after the stretching the beginning of the kik/audio sample is not correct anymore.
its as if the audiosamples were weirdly timestreched en something like an enveloppe on every audiosample happened.
the midi stays cool
dont know what happened. it happend when msn started. so from now on i will remove msn from my music computer while on cubase.
somebody knows how to change the clockrate to 44.1 /questionmark/ when i do it in device set up it jumps automatically back to 48 kHz.
help!

I have same problem when i go thru the net and im making music also, i do all my projects at 48khz so when some window with audio opens in the web the sample rate changes to 44.1 this is because all the audio there has to be on 44,100  ,dont worry just do like orange saids, and try not to be making music while u are on the net cause this issues will happend a lot hehe tell me!!!
