ok here's wt i would go for (medium budget):
Laptop: P4 3.0GHZ 1GB RAM
Firewire Soundcard: Presonus Firebox
Monitors: KRK rokit 6
Midi-keyboard: Oxygen 8
Mixer: Mackie 1202vlz pro
Mic: Shure sm57/58
add software and ur in business!
p.s. of course u could go mixerless since the presonus firebox has 2 preamps..but the mixer will come in handy when u eventually decide to get some hardware http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic |

depending on your budget - if your starting out i would say buy the bare minimum and see if this is really something for you. would be pointless to invest so much money and then find out that producing psytrance really is'nt your thing.
512MB Ram should be good enough for the beginning.
Midi-keyboard: Oxygen 8 is great, and even if your just starting out, twisting knobs and being able to play in some melodies really gets you more involved.
Mixer you definitely don't need for the beginning (a lot of pure software based studio's these days doing just fine).
Definitely invest on some good monitors (friend has the Alesis MK1, they sound great and are fairly cheap) and a decent sound card.
Psychosomatic: Mic ? You could just sample stuff, which is what 99% of psytrance producers do

I tall you why use mixer
some mixer's has group ch and why do you need this ch
with the group ch you can record external devices
like : Synth , Mic or what ever you want to record
and this is how you do it
*take your Out ch from the audio card and plug it to a ch in the mixer
*and than take the Group out ch from the mixer and plug it to your audio card(to the In ch)and than you can start record
Enjoy!!! |
