I've just started writing psytrance (yesterday actually)..I was wondering how you manage to kick the kickdrum so deep and peircing. Does anyone have any general tips?  Currently I'm only using Fruityloops.  Thanks for reading.

Wow, thanks Hujaboy, I'm very grateful that an artist of your calibre is offering his help.  I will take you up on your offer at a later date if you didn't mind, at the moment I'm limiting myself to using Fruityloops though.  Would you recommend Sound Forge to a beginner?

if you wanna make the kick in FL (i hope it's FL3) sound deeper and piercing, here's  a trick i taught myself:

use the normal kick sound on default
go to the sound editor of the kick (make sure u have a 4 kick pattern playing)
go to the stretch timer and drag your mouse while click-holding it till it reaches 1
by now you should have the "zap" sound, which gives you the "piercing" effect.

no, go to the cut and resonence. set the cut to about -5, -6, and the resonance to about -4, -5 (play with it till you get the sound you want)

now, go to decay and attack, and set the attack and decay to -3, -4 each.

now amplify the sound using the AMP knob. tweak it gently and hear the sound change.

from there on, to make it deeper, u can use FL's effects' rack, to add reverb, delay and compression to it. g`luck

Sound forge is an editing program.
It is not too complicated.
It's easy to work on wavs, to do stuff like cutting them, processing fx,make kicks.
And more.
Any way, when you get sound forge, choose new at "file"
then go to "tools-synthesys-simple" choose sine wave , make sure it is only one second.
Then you will see a sine wave.
Then go to "Effects-Pitch-bend"
Reset the pitch envelope.
take the litlle square on the left to the top above the wave(keep it on the left).
then press on the middle of the line a new squre should appear  locate it on the middle of the wave.
Ok...now press preview.
And start playing until you hear somthing you like a little.
Then message me and I will give you the rest of the directions.
Good luck

take a new patern and put the "basic kick" or the "club kick" on this patern.
open a compresor "plug-in" and start to play with it untill you like the sound of the kick.
after that you can take the kick and move it 1 octave down.
good luck

You can create any kick drum quite easily.

you can also make your own kick drum sounds with an analog synth or a softsynth

its just a matter of:
taking a basic wave, ie: square or triangle
filtering it heavily (low pass)
putting on high resonance
and to turn it into a kick drum
adding a pitch envelope, with the pitch dying down rather than going up, and tha attack, delay. etc on the pitch envelope being very quick..
and hey presto, a basic kick sound

Or you can just take a Sine wave starting at 2000hz-20000hz and drop it very fast to about 10% of the original value. Then lower the pitch slower until you reach 0. That's all...
It's easier to do than write.
