Hey guys, i have a little issue here and i'm looking for some suggestions.

i use FL Studio for most of my sounds as i'm really familiar with the interface, but i think that the pattern editor is really painful and automation clip concept (especially for psytrance) is close to impossible to keep up with. I really love the arrangement mode in live and can someone tell me if i can send the mixer tracks from FL studio into individual tracks in Ableton Live and use them in real time? Also if i do that can i use the automation lines and all the cool things in Live? Will there be any limitations?

I'll be really greateful if someone can throw in some light about this.

I have used FL rewire in Pro Tools. I don't think you would be able to send individual mixer tracks to individual channels in Ableton, I remember having FL on an aux (or was it instrument?) track.
Interesting question and I would love to hear more about it too...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

@Upavas - I tried to render each track and then use them as waves on Live, But it's very painful, mainly because i'm never happy with my individual tracks and keep trying to tweak one or two parameters on each. This way i'll have to go back to the original and render it all over again, i keep losing my groove in the process. . And also, I'm sure there'll be a lotta quality loss if i wire the whole application into another software, plus there'd be no point as we'd have to do all the automation and the 3D stuff on FL itself for most of the part. . If we could pull off a tight FL - Live combo, I personally think it'll be bloody powerful.           "The Dancefloor is for those who usually can't afford to drink in the bar"

@psycox - thanks a lot mate. really helpful. that makes things a lot clearer. But i have one question still, can the master be one of the channels that i send? 16 tracks is quite a small number for a psy track now isn't it? how do i get around this?           "The Dancefloor is for those who usually can't afford to drink in the bar"

i guess you record those parts you are happy with to audio and keep doing so to keep the numbers down...

That's where grouping comes in very handy, I am just getting started on this, but alas, my new desktop is so strong, if I could only get a laptop with the same power, I'd use FL studio for my ivesets, that would be truly awesome...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

You can assign any of the 99 mixertracks to one of the 16 rewire outputs as mentioned above. I'd love the idea of sending playlist tracks directly to rewire output which would be more helpful to me.

Another FL rewire question: how come the hotkeys don't work when rewiring FL to live? This is really really a big issue and a workflowkiller to me...           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog
