i use an rme 9632 for long time now and i can say: rme sound is rather puristic and neutral. what comes in sounds like before, what goes out sounds like it sounds.
i would not rate their stuff really high endŽish and if you start comparing it against dedicated a/d or d/a in the 1k and above class you will see there is more to go.
you can get more "depth" and "colour" from other converters and there can be more resolution but usually this comes at a price.
one thing is for sure, rme is rocksolid driver wise and you cannot go wrong with it. the character you want in your music comes with the tools you use in the mixing and mastering stage, your rme wonŽt be in your way in order to get top notch sounding mixes.

any interface sound good enought for making great psytrance mix specially if you are itb, but rme to me sound not neutral but rather thin, it sound like everying we try to avoid when mixing itb , thin harsh 2d.. that why to me it s not good cards for my work..i dont want everyhtign i record get a little colored that way..(it s not big, it s converter..but with few recording stacking on top the difference is theres vs a more neutral converter..i m familiar with 9632 adi 2, ff 800 maybe newer units sound better but with these i wouldnt even do a mastering ad/da pass to use analog gear but rahter stay itb to tell you how much i dont like the sound) |
