i dont know about this price range,
i have no need for screens, special preamps or tons of in/outs
if you reallly do fair enough but id reccomend a 200usd firewire interface, focusrite has good preamps in their budget cards

RMX cards are shit hot, i have used them for over 10 years now and never had any issues.
However dont overbuy, by this i mean only buy what you need.

i dont see why you need such high spec? unless you need them for lots of analogue or live instruments?.. if you are just producing psy i cant see the need.
heres some more modest firewire cards i would reccomend
-http://www.thomann.de/ie/focusrite_saffire_pro_14.htm (199EUR)
-http://www.thomann.de/ie/focusrite_saffire_pro_24.htm (249EUR)
-http://www.thomann.de/ie/motu_4_pre.htm (449EUR)
and i would also reccomend you spend the other 3000 on monitors/room treatment/pc/synths!! (in that order)
hope i have helped:)

the ufx series is a great choice for sure..really clean preamps, super stable driver and lowest latency of all RME interfaces..
chris liebing says that as well XD
go for it you wont be dissappointet..maybe a smaller version is enough, depends on your plans..

i would avoid rme, everyhting great usually with their cards except the ad/da convertion and the preamps . it s not that their are bads, but you can get same quality if not better for 1/3 of rme cards price
are you on mac or pc?
there is a ad/da test on gearslutz and the rme cards including ufx really fail in term of fidelity to the source even echo audiofire , motu,tc are better than ufx.. but measurment are not sound.. but no luck rme make everyhting sound more sterile and 2d in my experience |

do you have a link to the gearslutz article or remember by head what soundcards were judged as as good or better than the rme`s? my next upgrade could be a Behringer ADDA800 (only 200 euro) and a very good soundcard with not so many ins and outs.

it s measurment so only show how some ad/da loops stay true to the source ,some may be colored and make things sound better (imo not a bad thing for recording hardware synth drums machines..)so the test is something to take with a grain of salt, sound is so subjective but in case of rme i never heard one that make things sound better but quiet the opposite..
the first one the lynx hilo converter is the best of the units tested for not coloring the sound.. personally i would not choose a interface based on this but by lisetning to them in your studio..from the ones i used they all sound slighty different but from this test i really want to try the motu as it s cheap with lot of i/o

After asking several people, the feedback I got was RME all the way... congrats on the Adams, you will love them! Took me some time to get used to them, you will love how they translate to other speakers as well. For now I am still saving on my new (almost there) Thinkpad Edge so I can do live sets... almost there, 2 more weeks...
