Im a freelance DJ and my idea was to start a party organization.
I can get the financing but what do I actually need? What to buy, how to invite a DJ, how much is a DJ offer or any legal advice.
I Live in Leiria, Portugal

Thank You

Hy knocz!
IMO first of all, think about the main element, the people and the musik!try to provide to the freaks everything that you would need in a party (FREE potable water and fruit, lots of shadows in case of a sunny day, security, ambulances, etc.) and other related stuff.about the musik, try to provide all the necessary equipment (the best way is to rent them) to the live acts and Dj's,a powerfull soundsystem etc...to invite a Dj or Live act it's better to talk with them truh net or personally, prices are different from each, but I warn you to save some extra cash to airplane tickets and,in some cases, hotel.after the line up is made, try to place them in order to create a journey-like (dark musik in the night and uplifting musik in the morning and so...)off course don't forget the deco, tent areas, chai shop zones, bar,Wc and the party spot.this one must be in a good zone of te country (we are sick of parties in football fields and near the big cities!) and try to get everything legal, the spot and try to get the help of the cops they will get useful in case of major problems.
think in everything that you would like to have in a party, and provide them to the people.
If you are serious about making some partys from now on...I recommend you to try a different line up (once again we are sick of the same artists all the time) with different names, not so known but equally better than the most known ones.
Once again, all I said IS MY OPINION and I've talked taking in consideration the parties I went to.If you want to give me a listen, you are free to do it,if not...well,it's not my money!!
keep it up and good luck!

Reason was originally developed to be a live soft synth, but has been use by some huge artists like Prodigy to produce albums.
I don’t think it was every intended to be used for final production and mastering.

My best advice is to get hold of a demo version of Cubase and start to learn it, Its way more powerful than reason and best of all its fully compatible with reason.

The new Reason 3 has some nice added features for final production but still doesn’t have the versatility and control you need to tweak our sounds perfectly.

Using cubase was a big step up for me and I can defiantly hear the difference!

Try it out and see for yourself!

Sorry Ignore the post ontop!
This is what Imeant to post

It’s a great Idea! Im starting the same thing in South Africa!

Id start small if I were you.

I’ve already sorted out a 100m2 stretch tent, a 1K sound rig with amps and a mixing desk and a lighting rig, nothing to big just a smoke machine, UV’s and robots. If your planning on doing it regularly Id use some of your finances setting up your own equipment because renting it would use up your money just as fast and once you’ve got it you could rent it out yourself!

Speak to local club owners they might have a liquor license that allows them to sell outside of there establishments its not worth trying to sort it out yourself there is way to much red tape to get through.

Get hold of local authorities and find out what the requirements are in the area that you are planning to hold the party, some times its hectic and the fire chief and health inspector have to get involved. I find that if it’s a Benefit show and your going to donate a percentage of your door takings to a needy cause the authorities let a lot of rules slip!

Find out all you can a about advertising, Street posters and flyer are a must but sometime it costs to put them up, and there are rules about contents.

Try getting sponsors, talking to local clubs about getting involved, you punt their name and they put your party it’s a win win situation.

Make sure you put the right disclaimers on all tickets and flyers, like No under 18’s, No Drugs, and the your not responsible for theft, injury and stuff like that.

And get security you always get 1 or 2 bad characters floating around up to no good!

Hope I gave you some good tip. Good luck!
