Hi mates !
before i start i am a newbie to music production...I normalyy use fruity but i have reason and cubase as well. And i dont wanna copy anybody but to learn the fundamentals. SO DONT LECTURE ME ON COPYING PPLS SOUNDS AND BEING UNIQUE. as this is not the intention. Also i have read the Bassline threads !!!!!!
NOW BACK TO THE TOPIC
======================
i need Help re-creating a Chemical Crew bassline in tracks like Hide and seek or Black sheep or any typical Chemical track. If anybody can help me i will really be greatful. I have most of the soft synth and host available.
Thanks alot in advance.
I hav emy melodies set in place its just i cannot master the art ... or maybe i dont know the right way to create it......
Cheers

IMO...
Sawtooth based sound
Lowpass filtered...
No sustain
A tiny bit of decay,
a small amount of attack...
Compression,
- Notched e.q.'s on the crap harmonics
Another E.Q./possibly multiband compression reducing the highmids, but leaving a few his,
A quadrafuzz (like all 'dem basslines)
Very Subtle MaxxBass...
And robert is your feckin' mothers brother...
Not my kinda bass at all ... but hey, there's my advice

Concerning compression,
You don't necessarily need it, but it gives you more controll over the sound...
As EYB rightly pointed out, use the search and find out more, and maybe you'll realise why it's probably used in the Chemical basslines.
I'd also like to confirm that Killalrrrgh11!1 chemical basslines aren't really my thing, but that is how I think they're made.

Where is the obligatory post asking "why u wanna copy someone else?" This thread feels naked without it.

LOL, ask any artists how he compress his bass, he will laugh in your face....
To compress your bass is the most stupidist thing you can do, it hides the sound... ok... i stop now there's no point...
Go head Compression is killer !!!! |
