i have been using flstudio for 6-8 months now
when i make a baseline, i was wondering whether you have to fil all the blocks i.e your base note should be over the kick note at every 4 steps or whether to leave the kick clean and fill only 3 steps on the piano roll for the bass.
also was wondering whether you compress all your channels or only your master and was wondering if any of youll could provide me with some links on useful information like compressing and basically reading material with the help of which i could learn about better production and also the basics as i have never studied sound but am very interesting in learning thanks a milion!!

Wass up Azboy! I've been using FL studio properly for about 3-4 months now. I've ben playing with it for about a year but its only in the last 3 months i have been making some decent sounds.
About your questions, it sounds like you are just starting. The things i say below is for someone who is just starting, so if you're like a pro please delete this PM and correct me if i am wrong anywhere.
Also, I am no pro, i am just telling you what i have been told by some people who make good music. Not necessaril the best but production wise its right up there. Anyway, enough of ranting, Please read below and i hope i can help you. So here goes....
Make sure your Bassline and Kick never overlap. or else, the sound just peaks a lot and its not nice. Its like:
KBBB KBBB KBBB KBBB YOu could maker them overlap but its a fuckin headache to adjust the sounds levels. So start simple for now.
Don't worry too much about Compression and EQ and all that now. With the right VSTs and right application of those VSTs you can get very very good sounds. Master that first. The only place where you might need to EQ is the bassline. but don't get too complicated, use a basic 4 point EQ, its enough.
But if you really wanrt to know about eqing and compression, look for COLIN OOOD's post about it. Also, it think there is a D&B website where they talk about compression and EQ very very simply. check them out. The Forum has loads of info, you just have to check. Use the Search!
Work Hard on your Synth techniques. Just sit down and fuck around with them till you get somehting, also its great fun!
Check out the Mother of Leads thread, mother of Basslines thread etc etc. they have some invaluable information in there. Its quite easy to understand as well so should not be a problem for you. Also those threads cover most of the Psy trance sounds, well atleast your base of the track. You must read them!
I hope this helps you to make a start. Again, i must say i am not a pro but these are things some guys have told me. You have to keep experimenting. Don't make yourself any rules or you'll sound like any other Psy artist on this planet.
Be Brave, be Different and i Wish you the very best of Luck in your productions.
Peace!

Not all pirated software is cracked properly. I'm not supporting warez here; but you need to hunt around to get the best warez...
even if you have to compromise on the software (say you get FL 4); that's way better than what you're doing currently.
chill out & have fun making those beats

Also some of the VSTs in FL5 are just demo versions and you cannot save your work if you're using them.
On the top left next to the description of the VST, it should say if its a Demo version or not.

You dont HAVE TO keep your bass notes separated from the kick ones.Ofcourse the two of them can overlap and thats where the fruity peak controller comes handy (well...one of the ocassions actually).
For example...you have FX channel 1 assigned to the kick and FX channel 2 to the bass.Without the use of peak controller - if they're overlapping - the sound is crap beacause kick gets covered by the bass.
So,what you do is load a peak controller into channel1 which you'll use to automate the volume of channel2.
Now,right click on ch. 2 volume knob and choose link to controller option. In the popup window, from the internal controller list choose peak controller (FX 1) and you've got it assigned. So now you have to "tell" fruity that whenever a note is coming out of ch1,the volume on ch2 should be lowered.
You'll do that by using the mapping formula section in order to define how the channel volume will decrease
in relation to ch1.For example...typing input/2 divides the volume by two.Search the fruity help for the list of all elements you can use...use mapping formula as a keyword.
And then experiment with combinations of the peak controller and the mapping formula to get various rythmic results.
