hi , it could be 1 of many problems :

1. open the cpu usage and look if it passing the maximum velocity , if its too high then this is your broblem , your cpu is dieing , if its in the normal velocity then tell me.

mind attack ...
here's several other reasons:
1) slow mother board - with your cpu it's possible that your mother board doesn't support ATA 100.so even if you have fast harddisk it won't help.
besides for a faster CPU you maybe need other motherboard. what model is it ?

2) i'd go and check what ram you have.
you probably have 128+64 mb
64m is maybe much older than 128, so the timing is automatically set to the slowest device.

3) the CPU... i think pent.2 is the lowest requirement for cubase. check the site.
but usually "minimal requirement" means "the program will crawl until dead"

4) maybe the 64m ram stopped working at all - check it at boot time.
5) say your desktop is free of icons - this doesn't mean your windoze isn't full of soft.
so the fact you have a special user for cubase does not make your computer "cleaner" ...welcome to multiuser :)

anyway: CPU under 800 Mhz costs not so much.and 128 RAM costs ... 70 shekels.

bom
