don t save money on monitors ,it s better to have good monitors first imo, a cheap soundcard is ok if you don t record external source. |

Hi there! I say go for a Presonus FIREBOX as a sound card, a 1000 shekel (180euros) midi controller (search this forum for info on that) which leaves you with around 2250shekels (400 euros) for a pair of monitors.

yep...buy godd monitors first...everybody would say that...so..go for dynaudio or genelec or tannoy...soundcard..like 300€ ...echo audiofire 4...and any midikeyboard is ok..priority is definatly the monitors..and then the soundcard..save some more money if you cannot afford all at the same time..but buy good mons...i think you got it right?

first of all you need midi controller then monitors
soundcard is unnecessary ....cosma for example produced music with sound blaster card!
im not saying that you no need soundcard...im just saying is the last equipment you need!
with this range of price i would go for KRK or Samson monitors....check the prices and models!
midi keyboards
M-AUDIO - Axiom 25
E-Mu Xboard 49
Novation ReMOTE 25 LE

After 10 years into this and many good and bad choices on equipment.. if I started again today, thinking in long terms if I hadn't too much initial money I would go like this:
0: strong computer
1: cheap Soundcard with low latency soundblaster is fine.
2: simple Midikeyboard with a couple of knobs (but I know people who do great music without one.. so its a matter of how you work, maybe leave this one out)
3: Monitors, as much as you can spend, even if you stop making music you will always have a pair of fine speakers. dynaudio would be my choice, but thats out of your range at this moment. do many listening tests.
4: Room accoustic
5: Good soundcard with many inputs to be open for possible later hardware synths. mic in, possibly 4 out etc. (no maudio, imho)
6: Better midicontroller for example novation remote sl series.
7: DSP card
8: Hardware synth
9: Even better monitors
10: maybe outboard equipment
11: Even still better high end monitors
12: more synths
etc..
with a lot of detour I made my way up to 9.. but damm if I had known this before I would have saved a lot of money... cause I climbed up a really idiotic "better monitors" stair odysee till I ended up with my Dynaudio BM6a which I should have bought in the first place.. with all the money I have spent for monitors and lost when selling them I could have bought four pieces of it or even more expensive ones.. for monitors i would go for he krk v8..rp6 are good also and tannoy's-tascam i ve never listened to them.
for midi controller choose whatever u like cause they all do the job-i have the emu xboard25 it's good and has a nice clavier.
for soundcard get something better but still cheap-for example emu0404 here in greece it costs around 100euros.

i think KRk monitors sucks...
the sound is quite bad... way too much bass , wich result in a quite unclear sound, very difficult to work with...
i would never advise anyone to buy such thing.
also tannoy's aren't very good either.
for low price i think the best quality would be the dynaudio Bm5 Active, but please forget about krk, it's really shit |

If I were you, I would buy the audigy and the maudio oxygen 49 or even a smaller one if you are not a trained pianist.
Then keep the rest of the money, safe more and then go for the dynaudio bm5a. in the meanwhile use you homehifi or whatever speaker and headphone you have.
Its worth it.
If you go for an audiointerface certainly go for a emu 202
