If the help won't help you then I guess you have to learn from experience. There are no step-by-step instructions...
Do you have experience with more simple programs? Try learning the basics before you move to complicated programs like Cubase.

Cubase VST 5 is a bit complicated software so my
advice to you is just push the buttons and see
more or less what it is doing...
But Mike A is right because you do need to learn
the basics of music creation before moving to
Cubase 5 VST...?!?

for sure you have choosen 2. powerful tools.

with reaktor you can create your own synth, but this is a little bit hard in the beginning of creating music. so then... if you really bough reaktor and not got an illegal version, a manual should be included. you can easy learn this piece of sw by opening ensembles and check the structures of each module.

if you want to work with cubase, what i really recommend, as the vst support is great!, just begin with importing some wav files (you can open some in the audio pool and drag and drop them to an audio spoor). just click around and check what it will do then. try to find manuals and tips & tricks pages on the net and read them properly (there are a lot!!). if you get confident with cubase, you can begin with loading vst instuments and try to make your first tunes with it.

happy tracking!

cheers pj
