The best school for DJing is getting yourself some cdjs and mixer and start playing shit
the best school I know ....           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

let him do what he wants to do :)           an old woman told me : "we use only 20% of our brain so why shouldn't we burn the other 80%"

I don't understand ya
It's two different thingz ,
to b a dj it's a one thing
to go to dj school it's another
i'm a little now . . .
If yo really think about dj school , u can ask
at "Krembo Records" (Shenkin st.)
or "A.B Electronica" (Holon's industrial zone)
btw , the biggest dj's got their skillz from
years of "bedrooming" with a pair of SL1200's and
simple 2channel mixer .

EZ ,

Peace.

If you really want to go to a school then try www.sae.edu they are doing a dj certificate.
It is one of the best audio schools in the wolrd.
They have branches all over the world so it is possible there is on in Israel
But with the money that you are going to spend you can do another program like dance music production , or audio engineering diploma even a bachelor on recording arts.

The best way is practice practice practice and when you are proper dj , then practice some more.
It is like a school for foreign languages, the school can teach you the gramar, but you have to speak on the streets in order to start really speaking it.
And if you are going to spend money for the school why not invest it for a pair of decks and a mixer??????????
and if you already own one then get a pionner 300 or a roland dj1000 which have bpm counter ?
But as c3po states you have to start from the bottom with a simple 2 channel mixer and practice your ears. But with these mixers you can go creative and beyond beatmixing in your set , and use loops, filters and effects in order to give a personal touch to your set.
Try to count the kick drum hits for 12 seconds and multiply it by five and voilla it is an estimate of the bpm. It is not very accurate but it helps.
With time you ears get used to it.
To beatmix it is not an art that you need to be talented for. It is just a technique that can be mastered through practice practice practice.
It is like computers, I know a lot of programmers who graduted from universities and they do not now how their computer works.
ANother very important factor is selection of music (right music at the right time) the feeling you put into the music you play and the communication with the crowd.
And no school in the world can teach you that.

the name is "dj" and from what i heared its a damn good school, i practice on their equipment whenever im in tel-aviv, and its top notch - vestax turntables, rane and allen & heath mixer and dennon & pioneer cdj's.
although i have to go with the others about dj school being a waste of money, if you want it so bad, go for it.

just remember these things:

1. the fact that you've been to dj school WILL NOT help you get a head start in this buisness.

2. most classes are given by "chaperim" i mean wannabe dj's that couldnt make it (maybe they were good, but they didnt make it).

3. i, and i think most of the people in this forum have never heared of a superstar dj coming out of these places, but that maybe just becouse its too soon to tell.

4. if you go, i wish you all the luck, but practice is everything, buy turntables or cdj (NOW) and a mixer and start working, doesnt matter if you go to school or not.

Hey dude don't expect to scratch like Cool Hands Flex or mix like Carl Cox if someone shows you how it is done. It didn't work the first time Carl Cox tried it in his home, you gotta keep trying and if you really want to be a dj you will become one. keep on practicing and don;t get dissapointed if it does not work out .
Make yourself a favour and study thourougly this link http://www.recess.co.uk/start.html#Contents
It has all the information a begginer dj would ever need. It even has real audio examples to help you. There is also a downloadable word version of the site so you do not need to be online to read it (it is a very big site the word vesion is 108 pages)
Also advanced djs can benefit by reading it and have some info that will make their technique better.
