Hello Everyone,
I have about 200 euos to spare and i wanted to buy some VSTs. I went through KVR and found a few which are very good according to the many discussions here. I've listed them below and was wondering if you could help me choose the VSTs.
The problem i have is that i don't know if i should get two or three different VSTs or just one expensive one which is capable of most sounds.
I believe that just because something is expensive it does not mean it is good. So. i'm all confused now and was hoping you guys can help me, so here goes....
Albino2: 199 euros
Discovery: 95 euros
vanguard: 89 euros
Z3TA+ : 149 euros
Pentagon 1: 99 euros
If there are any more that are good and have not listed, can you please let me know about them?
Thank you all for your time and help.
Peace.

In my experiences:
Albino 2 - Great leads, great pads. Has a distinctive sound (but then maybe I can't seem to get away from my favorite way of programming it). Awesome modulation abilities.
Discovery - Modelled after the Nord Lead, this synth is a great way to get 'psytrance' sounds. For the money this would be one of the first VSTs I would get if I was desperate for the typical psytrance FM lead.
Vanguard - Great big synth sounds. I use this in all my work lately, I love it's sync options and the filter. The only softsynth I've used that sounds bigger is the Z3ta.
Z3ta - I'll admit that I haven't even begun to unlock the magic of this baby. The first few patches I've done on it sounded really good, but I know there's more to it. The sound of Z3ta is the thickest I've heard of any softsynth, with the closest being Vanguard. Plus there's the Virus mod for this, and the patches for that sound great.
Pentagon - I've heard some rave about this synth, especially for bass work. I haven't really used it.
Just my opinions/experiences, which I hope help you make up your mind.
peace,
-Alex |

I think the Z3ta+ is the most powerfull of the list you gave. Albino is probably the smoothest sounding. Discovery is good for agressive and sharp sounds and can do some quite nice basslines. I havn't used the other two so I can't comment on those.
If you could stretch your budget a bit I would go for the Z3ta+ and the Discovery. Together, they cover most sonic ground as far as software substractive synthesis is concerned.
