it's absolutly NOT true! u can run your board at defould settings with no problem @ all, only thing is u have to do before all is to update to the latest Bios (wichest u have to do with any board)!
about best settings that u maybe would want to get in future is here http://evga.com/forums/ very friendly ppl and i'm sure u will find your answers right away (they was all already answerd, use the search )
Vista hmmm, only reason i use Vista is DirectX 10 gaming and of cose i like to use all 4GB of my ram with is, so answer is x64 if u gona use that amount of ram, but if u happy with 2Gb than x86 will do too

are there any other performance differences between 86 and 64? right now i have two gigs of 8500 ram, but i guess if there is not much difference between the two os's i might as well go with x64. |

Btw, don't consider overclocking. If you feel the need for overclocking on a system like the one suggested you are more likely to have a production problem. Working on OC'ed system can really be a pain in the a$$ since you will have a hard time troubleshooting whether it is your software setup that causes a problem or your hardware (or a combination). OC'ing does not add stability to a system

don't be misstakin about 64 and 86....so (x86)is 32-bit and (x64)is 64-bit to make it clear! on 64 u would be able to run up to 4GB of ram, but on 86 only 2.1GB-2.8GB, i can't remember defferences of the systems, but google is your friend ...but keep in mind that bouth Vista or XP 64Bit systems.....have less attantion from software developments, by other words: NOT all programms will run on 64...and more than that, that is NO WAY u could be happy with DAW on 64 at least at present time

well me not agree with that statment!
with this magic CPU's this days, nothing is imposseble...and EVGA board will give ya really really really solid stability if u do it right! ----> http://evga.com/forums/ <---- 100's examples of smooth systems and super duper tutorilas for newcomers....BUT all this is posseble ONLY if u got GOOD cooling system, with fans u not gona be able to go far, maybe u could reach stability on 3Ghz wichest already good, is it? ..but the real thing comes with watercooling, but well this is another story

Regarding the 64bit issue: I am not going to run my production on vista, I have another 200 gig hard drive, on which I am planning to install tinyxp, and have that dedicated to audio production. and then on the 500gig drive I am planning to go vista for dx10 gaming and everything else.
regarding the overclock, i will eventuially do it, all of the components in my pc are made for it
speaking of which... most of the parts have arrived today , apart for the case which should arrive on friday. So far everything looks really good and all parts seem to be of very high quality, i just can't wait for that case to arrive so that I can finish assembling it, I was pretty impatient today when I recieved the parts lol, so I already popped the cpu in, and fitted the heatsink (noctua nh-u12f , which by the way is huge, but is of excellent quality, everything you need came in the package, thermal paste, screw driver, etc.) As for the other parts, I got the evga 680 i sli A1 mobo along with evga 8800 gts 320mb video card, and the hx620v corsair modular psu, 2 gigs of ocz sli 8500 ram, and of course you can't forget the big brain q6600. Everything is going to be housed in a black antec p182 silent case, and the rest of components I'll be using from my current pc.
p.s. Wich, spasibo za tvou pomosh' i soveti

Are you sure about this? As I see it, all programs should be able to run on the 64bit machine, but most wont be able to use more the the approx 3GB RAM because of the addressing issue.

As usual, the answer is yes & no. 64 bit OS have a process called WOW64 to run 32 bit subsystems. However, caveats exist, like a 32 bit program cannot load a 64 bit DLL, and vice versa. Things like that could very well be deal breakers for some programs.
