ok im having a very strange situation here, i made a kick using soundforge (pc), i used it in ableton live on a pc and sounds normal, then i use the same kick in ableton in a macbook, and the exact same file sounds diferent, very bassy and like it had an echo and a bit distored... ive tried using diferent soundcard drivers when making the kick, exporting as wav/aiff/16bit/24bit, etc. and the same thing happens, ive tried different programs to open the file, bias peak, ableton, itunes, vlc...ive tried using a diferent soundcard in the mac... nothing helps the kick ive made in the pc sounds like crap in the macbook... and the strangest thing is that when i open the kick in quicktime on the mac it sounds exactly the same as in the pc, but this doesnt help since i whant to use the kick i made on the pc in ableton live on the mac!!
hope someone has an idea...
or if someone knows a program like soundforge to make a kick in the mac then thats another solution ( i mean an audio editor for the mac that has a sinusoidal generator and a pitch bend tool) |

hey dude,
im not quite sure why this happens. anyways, imo if i remember right, bias is also delivering this option. another free tool i used was Audacity. its gui is not that nice like soundforge, anyways, with some patience leading to results.
just down it here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/beta_mac
open new, generate, sine and apply settings. i did not open for quite some while, but has to be kind like that. youŽll find out.
i did not open them all since i got bazzism and good samples to layer.... you can download bazzism for a ridiculous price here, it pretty much does the same like soundforge and the guys around ism just put a nice gui around it, to handle some more easy
http://www.ismism.de/home_e.htm
hope you like it, have fun, cheers: stephan

ok now ive installed the bazzism and the same thing is happening, its like any kick no matter where it comes from or how its made sounds like crap in the mac, is sounds like it had a ver subtle delay, a little distorted and exagerated low freq |

its now that u open bazzism on your mac and it still sounds the same even if the kickdrum is not imported?
i mean you put it in any track of ableton now (on your mac, the source is mac now?), trigger on same track with a clip and some midi and it sounds like mentioned? thats weired.
well, hereŽs a kickdrum i recently made with bazzism on my macbook. try and tell me how it sounds pls....

i hope this intelligent comment above will not lead this topic into another mac/pc conversation. its boring and we had enough of that. go ahead and get a PS3 if mac/pc is still not enough i guess oneŽll know how to get efficiently use of it ^^
any hardware is shit if you dont know how to use it. no matter pc/mac/ps3.... learn how to use and benefit. each has its own pleasures.....
sorry for offtopic, but imo those constructive comments may be erased. leads to nowhere except the thread into a direction it was not supposed to....

no mac is not shit for sure...
but that's not the point here. Endless discussion...
if quicktime plays it well, sounds like a problem with your Ableton Live
which one do u use (version?)
and check all your audio settings in preferences maybe (buffers etc)
and also give a look to the 'warp'

i already checked ableton settings, different buffer size, using a diferent sound card, different kicks, but i found out its not only ableton, its everything!
Im teaching a friend to produce, and he didnt realise that he had that problem for probably a very long time, even itunes has that problem, with complete tracks, sounds like the hole track had reverb, so any sound in the mac sounds like crap, except in quicktime... ive tried uninstaling soundflower and other sound drivers he had, changing the bit rate and sample rate of the soundcard of the mac and nothing, ive tried a lot of things and nothing works... at some point i thougth it had to do with the hardware but if that was the case then quicktime would sound like crap to
His computer is very pimped out with lots of enhancements and stuff, so i told him to reset the mac back to original settings
maybe someone has another idea?? |

im still not sure on this mate, but i quite remember i had the same issue once. but damn cant remember what i did to solve.
i think i had kind of a driver issue that time which had to do with an quick time update. i think i downgraded that time until it was debugged and had to completely update the mac and all the stuff, ran diskutil, repaired disk (maybe better to use the OSX Disk), ran onyx after, complete script with all its options, restart. (i think you dont have to downgrade, just complete software update needed)
im not sure but this might be a similiar problem. i guess i dont have to ask if your OS is pirated right?
whats diskutil saying? everything ok? youŽll get onyx here btw, its free and very useful imo. i run the scripts weekly....:
