I got this track I am working on. It's comming along fine, but I am getting stuck at the kick in correlation to the bass and other elements.

To me the kick sounds way to "alone". Like there is no harmony between bass and kick to make it more ehmm... rolling, harmonic... hmm, don't know how else to explain it.

Was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on how to make it more "fluent"?

a: Gonna try
b: Have done that, any more and it fades out too much.
c: Have given it a cut between 300 and 1000hz.
d: There is 3 basslines running which are:
1: Sub (Between 35 and 100hz)
2: The train ( k-bbb-k, between 90 and 180hz )
3: The fill ( between 200 and 500hz)
e: Ehmm... no           www.xun.dk / myspace.com/xundk

Are you set on using that kick? Perhaps a kick with a slightly longer tail will lock together better.

I'm kinda curious as to why you're running 3 layered basslines, doesn't it get unnecessarily complicated? I mean it sounds great, but on the other hand a good bass synth should give you a solid enough patch across the entire frequency range not to have to bother with layering.

I think it sounds good! of course you can try other kicks or layer them... maybe something with a little more power.... i say go with what you think sounds good... I like this how it is and would rather more hear you make more out of the track... i hear this can become very trippy

Sounds good man, I think maybe you've just been over analyzing it. That's usually the problem with me when I feel something is 'missing' and I can't place my finger on it.

but yeah maybe switching to a kick with more power, more oomph in the decay section.

Inner Demon > Took your advice and changed the kick. I think it got a bit better, but still missing something.

I like complicated And I like to experiment with bass sounds, since I still need to learn alot about that area.

Freeflow > I tried layering two kicks, but couldn't find a good combo. thanks, I think I will complete this track, but I have 2 other projects I need to finish first

Zoopy > Thanks

Both of those links sound fine to me, the second one maybe a little better.

If anything I'd say the biggest problem is those toms. They are so cheesy, they sound like the beginning of "never gonna give you up" haha

There you go... oomph oomph oomph

although I also agree that either one sounds good, I almost prefer the first one because you can hear the bassline more and I like pretty muffled kicks .

move on move on move on
