I think the answer is actually no.

If you use a 32 bit host DAW it will only recognize 4 gigs of RAM....even if your system is 64 bit and recognizes the extra RAM.

Check this page for more detailed explanation:

the difference with a 64bit os and a 32bit app is that indeed the app will only allocate 3gb of ram... but the os will allocate the full 4g for its use leaving your app with the full 3g.
a 32bit os instead will share the 3,25g real available ram with the app.

so there is still a small advantage.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

yeah, there is definitely an advantage in having a 64 bit OS even if your DAW is 32 bit...

But upgrading your RAM in this situation might be underwhelming as your software isn't really taking advantage of it (the DAW, anyways - more RAM might improve stability of your system...)

Different question...

what kind of computer do you have (specs), and what are you wanting that you don't have now?            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

still it depends...
ex. rewiring 2 32bit apps in a 6g ram 64bit os will give you allot more ram for both apps.

also helps in multitasking with different apps.. you just run out slower.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

As Fat Data said, you get a tiny advantage...but unfortunately no, ableton isn't taking advantage of all that RAM

Hopefully next version will be 64 bit.

And have automation curves.

you can launch "resmon" directly from run/execute/cmd/whatever and see how your memory is used by apps           http://soundcloud.com/mosfat/
