Hello there.
I can hear 2 different sounds, 2 times what it seams to be a distorted timbal or sintetized or maybe layered, the other sound right before bass drum its a common shot that you can find in sample libraries, or try to tweek something similar using a lp filter, playing with filter, amp, mod, envelopes. starting with the decay parameters of filter envelope, shape it with the amp envelopes, reducing sustain, release. basic drum synthesis i think. Think about fm and distortion always, it's not a crime to use distortion, delay, reverb, chorus etc.. in synthesis, of course it will be the best if you know how to tweek in the same way you talk and after all of that to use distortion. But its no't a crime, indeed it counts as a method of synthesis.
oh 3 sound i have to say, the other before the distorted percussion, a sine wave sounding litle percusive, try basic percussion synthesis method in substractive synths. and if it sounds delicate, tweak delicate , never give up tweaking.
Hope it helps and this post will help to get the professionals to this post
Peace

This sounds like a Trentemøller track...is it?
If it is, then the synth used for this sound i proberbly the Micro Korg.
Anyway it sounds like an FM type sound. Also i hear a pretty clean saw wave at the very end of the sound so it could be a saw wave with FM that modulates and at the end the FM mod has fallen to zero. Or maybe its just layered because i also hear a really high pithced aliasing kinda sound wich could mean kinda the opposite. That the modulating osc rises in pitch.

yea its a simple FM patch. You can probly get it with a sine as mod and carrier. The exact index and pitch of the mod/carrier you just have to mess around with. |

2 sounds- first is a drum, detuned congo or something like that (might have some kind of pitch env on it), followed by another percussive (could be same patch doubled up?) sound treated with LOFI or BIT REDUCTION distortion, that's all...
it's pretty easy sound to achieve, if you own Kontakt, load a snare or perc sound, insert LoFi and fiddle with the bit rate knob,
put your FM7 away.... |

Doesnt sound like bit reduction was used at all to me...
Go ahead and recreate that sound if you think its that easy. I think it sounds pretty complex for such a short sound.
Listening to it again I think it sounds more like a good ringmod was used rather than FM. |
