Hay..
How do i apply an radio or phone like effect on a wav file..??
By radio or phone effect i mean that the wav file sounds like it is played thrugh a radio or phone.. Like the popular psy-trance and full-on effect used on the Kick and bass when making breaks..
What vst can i use..? |

try multiband distortion and/or bp filter
got a bit rougher and cleaner sound than bitcrusher imo...a nice effect is also to raise the overdrive of the different bands during the break, makes the bassline getting more & more smashed
but there are several ways to do that...a simple bp filter with a good amount of resonance also does the trick with some eqing...

In Cubase I put 8 Quadrafuzz (every insert slot) on the track (or group), eq out the high and low and leave the middle. Don't change any settings on the fuzz, just put them on.
This is my favourite, I can't believe I've just given it away |

Actually Waves Q10 EQ has phone and radio presets that are quite good to start with. Also vocoding sounds with some white or pink noise can make stuff sound like talkie-walkie broadcast.

Compress the hell out of the signal prior to the filter and EQ. All radio stations compress the life out of the signal before it goes to broadcast. Add this with the filter cuts and some creative distortion to get that almost authentic sound. Below is a short description of a preset in the TC Electronic Powercore for the Filtroid plugin. Should be easy to emulate with any plugin.
Telephone Sound:
Two filters in series
Highpass @ 866 hz is the 1st in the series
Lowpass @ 4282 hz is the 2nd in the series
Has a real thin brittle sound. OOOOhhhh. You could also try recording the end part of vinyl after the track has played out so you could get the little crackle sounds. Mix that in for some extra dirt.
