hi, i'd suggest not to waste your raptor as OS hd (you won't use much virtual mem because you have 2GB of real ram) it might even be questionable if you need a raptor at all. you probably don't need xp pro, xp home is ok too. intel is ok, you got a nice mobo there.
all the best |

hey there dude
this configuration will work real good, and maybe more than any amd system with stock clocks...
personally i'm a amd fan, but i must admit they work better with experienced users, almost any amd system you can buy will need ddr and 1:1 cpu overclocking to reach the memory bandwiths and cpu mips of this intel dawn conf you posted there...
if you go for amd, i recomend any 939 1mb L2C cpu, such as the sandiego or fx core, over a dfi nf4 motherboard, tccd or bh6 mems, (i prefer the tccd cauz they use less voltage), a good power supply and thats all ....
in my case i own a sandiego +3700, with a nf3 motherboard, and ocz rev2 tccd mems... the system runs rock solid 24/7 @ 2600 mhz (4400+) and 260 ddr (540mhz) @ 1:1... the operation and music writing
is really smooth up to 50 midi/audio channels with diferent vst plugins.
but if you dont have experience in tweaking x86 systems, i recommend the intel 775 choice, with ddr2...
about the raptor you wont feel any real diference unless you buy 2 of them and use them in raid0, but i have only one and the mb/s transfer rate makes not a big deal diference.
cheers, and hope it helps!
