Hi all
I am sitting here preparing my liveset, and ableton live is acting up.

Most of my tracks sound distorted, like the quality of them has been lowered. The .wav files sounds fine when I play them outside Live, but whenever I load up the project and start playing, the sound is very different.

Can anyone please help?           www.xun.dk / myspace.com/xundk

Timestretching will always affect the quality of the audio. Try different warp modes, and make sure that if you're using Beats (seems to be best for trance mixing for me, other warp modes kill the transients) you have the tempo and bars mapped precisely. In Live 8, Beats mode will also track transients in the actual tune but I haven't had a month free to spend mapping them all out in an actual track yet so I can't tell you how well it works!           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I am using Live 7, I have tried different warp modes, but it doesn't seem to change the quality of the tracks.

Also all my tracks have been rendered in 135 BPM and the project set to 135 BPM, so there shouldn't be that much stretching going on...

What I did as a last resort, was to change the tracks (kick, snares, some leads and bass), so that they didn't sound extremely awful, but it was not a good fix...           www.xun.dk / myspace.com/xundk

1. Sure you don't experience HD overload? You'd see that in the little D window in the right upper corner. Is so, try to run the beat analysis on the folder in which the track(s) is located before actually loading the track(s) parts, by right-clicking the folder in Live and choosing Analyze Audio.

2. Are you sure the volume levels are not too high, for the individual tracks and for the master track? Sure you don't have any effects on the master track or something?

3. Is the project at the same sample rate of the track(s)?

Does your soundcard have a separate mixer app? In which case, are the soundcard mixer channels Ableton is playing through panned hard left and right? If they're panned to the centre it will put the entire track in mono and probably overload the output.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Do you usually use Logic?           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

did you change the warp mode to "complex?"

that 16th note beats warp thingy can fuck your tracks all up.           Quantum Frog / Anomalistic
