A vst I would like to have is a midi triggered envelope filter which tracks the note of the midi and applys a tracked frequency filter effect on an audio channel. You would probably have to do this as two separate units. but its probably easier than ur proposing.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean but there are plugins that will generate automation envelopes from the sounds on a track. Sonar's Analyst frequency analyzer will do it for instance. You could use this to have one sound modulate a filter or EQ on another sound. But maybe I'm misunderstanding you entirely.

Of course that doesn't do any EQ for you or anything but like PoM I tend to listen rather than look when I mix so I don't think I would use such a tool too much anyway.

But anyway, thats just how I work. Good luck with your project!

That s what I mean. I also can have the span plugins opened together, but cant perform eq corrections between them in a confortable way.
I wish I could view the instruments I want and be able to adjust their frequencies.

I ve always only used ears, and I m sure it works; but I wish I had this extra tool...I m sure that a plugin doing this would not make my mix worst, once I d also submit ear testings. All I wonder is have the 2 tools ears and eyes so I could decide each would fit my particular needs at any mix time specific circunstance.
This is not a project that I would develop for sure...it s a concept to be discussed among producers to confirm or not if this would be usefull..
Sometimes I feel like, although things developed a lot lately, we might be at stone age of computer based production, while we think we re so ahead in time...who knows??
Whenever my cpu crashes, I get preatty suure that soon freeze function won t be necessary no matter how many plugins we use for a standard track production..at least I hope...

the filter envelope vst plugins that exist do not detect the root frequency of a sound and hence cannot filter the right harmonics out of a sound even though it can detect an envelope. This would in essence trigger tyhe envelope with the right frequency tracking information to filter the right harmonics dynamically.

Hey people,

I ve had a nice answer from a developer. I asked him to read my ideas description at this post...
Also I made things easier as I have imagined at first ( I confess I went too long while writting cause some idea just flashed at that moment).

The concept would be a plugin inserted at master channel, receiving each instruments freq spectrum and gathering all information in its window(we d be allowed to see any instruments combination at its each freqs spectrum and all their sum at the master window). Also it d enable us to perform individual eqs settings/changes in each instrument according to their needs ....

Here s the answer:

"it is technically doable, and it is also an interesting idea.

for what you want, you would have to make a custom VST host that can
load inside of another VST host. said custom host would then be able to
load instruments or FX or samples inside of itself, and output their
audio as an individual trend on a spectrum graph, with custom color per
trend. this is doable, but is not doable in SynthEdit, which is what i
use to make my VST. what i recommend is to take this idea, flesh it out
a little more as far as details go, and then post about it on KVR
somewhere in hopes you'll attract the interest of someone who codes VST
in Borland C or Delphi, which is what you'll need to make something as
deep as this."
