At some point in my life i discover that pleasure was the thing that made me more happier, so hedonism is present in all my life. Good food (made at home), good cinema, good parties, good moies, good drugs, good friends, good travels etc etc.

So seeking pleasure has become some sort of the core of my believes. I tend to think "If its a sacrifice its now worth, you must enjoy everything you do in order to be happy and dont waste energy".

So lets be honest this hole trance scene is about hedonism, and I think we must replace ohm and indian iconography for some greek gods like Bacchus and Dionysus. The everything will make far more sense.

Also i think pleasure is too much punished in western (well in all monoteistic religions) and people suffer too much for the lack of pleasure and the guilty free enjoyment of it.

And the pleasure of feeling connected and in harmony with everything, like a state of bliss.

I don't think there is anything wrong with pleasure and I totally agree that western culture has a very negative idea of pleasure, I mean just look at how sex is viewed.

So enojying pleasure is only natural however its very important that your own pleasures don't harm others. And there are only so many resources in the world so you have to tune into an idea of sharing which like Jedi Knight can be a pleasure and a source of real happiness. I am sure there is no greater pleasure than having no ego. Ego is a pain in the ass sometimes.. you take everything personal. Also its good to keep the balance because some pleasures are bottomless, its like a fire where the more you feed it the more it grows, and so you are never really satisfied. So you have to keep some sort of balance so you don't become a slave of your pleasures and also so you don't get stuck in cheap pleasures when you can go with more higher and wholsome pleasuers that will make you happier in deeper levels. Like the pleaseure of smoking a cigarrete can be good, but then you get stuck in some cycle where its not even that good anymore. Its like you are a slave to the cigarrate and it takes a toll on your health. So its good to find a balance I think.

...yes and something more,"DONT HARM YOUR OWN SELF "because what kind of pleasure is this when u harm ur own self?
All thing is deeper then as it seems to be,because the most of us dont really know what makes us harm...
If we consider that this body that we have now and live our life ,does not trully belong to us,it belongs to god,to nature,to this divine principle that created us,and gave us this human body,so if we dont respect our own microcosm that is connected with all the entire macrocosmic universe, automatically we dont respect universe, dont respect our creator that gaves us the chance to live, dont respect nature,so when we harm our own self, automatically we harm others,we damage all the system around us..
So first of all we need to learn how to respect our own true self, and then be able to respect others nature and all the universe, this is the point ...

+1 Very true...

We need to learn to respect ourselves first then automatically we will start respecting others and everything else... MOst of the time we keep harming ourselves knowingly or unknowingly... and this same thing reflects when u interact with others, animals and nature...
And yes pleasure is good as long as u maintain the balance and dont fall into greed and cheap pleasures... And dont see pleasure as "pleasure"... respect it and be thankfull for it and enjoy it with a good heart           ?

I agree, in fact my concpet of hedonism include the pleassure it gives to you to have a balanced life, have no bad karma.

because if you sacrifice your soul, integrity or ethic in order to have carnal pleassures you in the long run will start to feel guilty and regret it, making you feel less pleassure and less and less.

but if instead, you work building pleassure slowly, bringing to you all those things that make you happy little by little in the long run all that path will give you so much satisfaction

My point here is that its juts being a little more honest and accept hedonism as a guiding force in our lives, dont say we do things for the well being of others, yees we do that of course but in the end we want inner satisfaction.

And here a paradox is born along with Aluxe's thought, if we loose ego, can we feel pleasure?           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

hedonism is at the core of everything...no one likes to feel bad everyone likes to feel good.
i am talking about what makes them feel good or feel bad individually, not what the collective calls good or bad or painful etc.
Feel Good is everything, hedonism is feel good feel good and whatever it takes to feel good is often tabooed because if it wasnt then the moderators would have no purpose in life nor would the priests. that what makes you feel good offends not the body but the mind...we put are mind into everything and that means no sex with minor... you and me baby aint nothing but mammals so lets do it like they do on the discovery channel!

i feel egoistic pleasure is different than innocent pleasures... also pleasure itself is a relative thing... for some people its the selfish pleasures that matters... for some people they gain pleasure in helping others or in service to others or seeing everyone else happy etc... So i don think u require ego to feel pleasure or genaralise it that way... Ofcourse u might need it for very selfish pleasures, but otherwise no... at the same time Ego itself is not so bad if u can understand it and keep it balanced with good intentions... and if u have good intentions u might experience good pleasures with the ego itself...

....actually i wanted to say a few words in this topic since quite a lot of time but i always left it. now i have a big existential problem. i am sitting since hours and cant decide if i go to the biggest yoga festival in the country and or i go to the biggest dark psy festival in the country and in europe. today. right now. very difficult question. i think i will leave the second exactly because of this topic. and because of forums. i cant close my eyes any more. this is not the right statistic quantity for my life.

For me one of the differences between pure hedonism and a more spiritual perspective is the intent.
In simple terms hedonism is about more and stronger, spirituality is about higher and greater. Different horizons for both.

For me, pure hedonism is too stagnant, in the end it doesnt grow or add any real or lasting happiness, it only centers around fleeting, transitory moments of happines which are ultimately unreal by their very nature.

Spirituality is about learning how to grow into a lasting untarnished state of happiness, unattached from our desire to be happy or our fear to be unhappy.

Spiritual hedonism, which i consider psytrance to be, is about growing towards that lasting state of happiness using the transitory moments as a guide of sorts.
I've had moments of ultimate bliss and transcendence on the dancefloor.. and even though they were transitory moments, experiencing them has given me the awareness of their existence, and the knowledge of how it "feels and looks like".

Now, whenever i attend a spiritual seminar or retreat, whenever they speak about abstract terms like for example bodhichitta or rigpa, i can relate better to it because i have experienced transitory versions of those states of being.

Multiplicity.. psychedelic awareness has given us so many ways to combine even opposing views.. its not a simple case of this or that black or white anymore.
