I recently downloaded "Test your hearing" from Epsilon Zero for my Droid and was quite surprised by the results:
10 Hz to 18,066.2 Hz (35 years old with minor tinnitus and a history of being a percussionist, guitarist, and morse-pit/ front row concert/ party goer. The test was conducted with Koss Sporta-headphones so I assume I might score slightly higher with better gear.)
I am curious of the accuracy of this test. If you guys have tried the app or other similar apps, what do you score? |

Babaluma: k, thanks for answering. The main question here: do you think my results in the low freq spectrum were realistic? I did not think it was humanly possible to hear 10 Hz from a small headphone. |

no idea, if you hear it, you hear it! i can't hear 10hz on my headphones, cos they only go down to 30hz i think. i'd imagine you wouldn't hear it as such, would be more like lots of very fast clicks, or a motor running etc. and you tend to have to crank stuff louder the lower you go to be able to hear it, which can also lead to distortion creeping in in various parts of the chain, which may well be audible.
were you listening to sine waves only? if it's anything else you'll be able to hear the higher harmonics, no problem.

It was sine waves yes, but the lowest freqs did not come out as sine waves in my phones, but more like a deep click. |

human range of hearing starts at 20 Hz (atleast when born), that's why all the things in audio engineering like spectrum analyzers, eq's etc always starts at 20Hz, or never go under it.
