Go see a physician before you panic. I had hearing loss in my right ear and went to a physician. They removed this disgusting worm-like chunk of earwax/hair that was blocking my canal. Knocking on metal near my ear actually hurt afterwards, but everything sounded so new and fresh

Are you feeling dizzy? Do you have a ringing sound in your ear? Any swelling/redness in the vicinity or behind the ear?
it's possible that u have/had otitis media (inflammation of the middle ear) ->make sure u wear a hat if u live in a cold city and u dont close your nose when u sneeze/cough because pus/infection can travel from your sinuses to your ear by eustachian tube.

It's also possible that you have a raptured ear drum which may heal by itself in a few months-> just don't put anything thinner than your elbow in your ears especially cotton swabs. If u do, don't dig very deep for the gold

these r just common causes, there r way more, ofcourse listening to music on full volume will decrease your hearing, and when u put your plugs make sure u don't put em too deep cuz as I mentioned previously you may damage your ear drum!

Maybe using a spectrum analyzer would help to atleast see what you can't hear?           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Has anyone ever tried supermarket/over the counter ear drops that dissolve wax?

Seriously, I need to go to the doctor but I keep putting it off. I am convinced there is something wrong with my left ear, sometimes its fine, sometimes it twinges a little bit and sometimes it feels blocked.
It's random, and I think its inner ear wax related.

Seriously, this topic is disgusting. But relevant to all of us.

it worked for one of my ears. i think it took 3 or 4 days putting the solution in. it was kind of weird, cause after you put it in, you'd hear these tiny popping/cracking sounds. probably a chemical reaction taking place. so after 4 days a big ball of wax just slowly rolled out.

but it didn't work for the second one after using the exact same solution for close to a week. when i went to the doctor, they put some big syringe-looking thing in my ear and just flushed it the fuck out with some solution. it was pretty violent. like a fire hydrant.

it happened only once in my life and it happened to both ears within 2 weeks of each other. weird. the next couple of days after getting that shit sorted were pretty freaky too, as everything sounded super clear and detailed.

Thanks septa. I bought some this morning and I know exactly what you mean about the crackling sound!

Well, here goes nothing. Day 1!

"as everything sounded super clear and detailed"

Oh man, that sounds like heaven!
