I'm an amature at gadget knowledge, so i need some help picking out a pair of decent Headphones for both musicmaking and walking around in the street listening to my discman feeling pretty cool..
I'm thinking of buying "KOSS PORTAPRO Portable" But they are alittle to small for home musicmaking imo. Because I want a pair thats big with good sound but not to big. Not to expencive (50 US is a ok price)
Do you have any recomandations of a headphone set or a internet shop where the prices are good ect.
Should I just buy a pair of KOSS or what?
Thanks for the help -psytones

The only issue I have with the Sonys are that they tend to break at the swivel joints. I have had 4 pairs of them and they all have broken the same way. But I do love the bass response that it has. I don't know if it is the best for producing, (it probably isn't) but for djing it's great in a loud environment...

i've heard this time and again, but never 4 pairs! wow, thats a lot of dough.
i had this same dilemma, and wound up with the sennheiser hd-25. expensive ($170 on amazon and that was a deal) but they block out sound as well as the sonys, if not better, and they're pretty small. good for travelling, and incindentally, walking around looking cool
also, they're studio monitor quality (sez so on the box, he he), so better for production, if that's what you're in to.

Yhea.. I'v acctuly been looking at Sennheiser HD25-SP, Sennheiser HD25's little brother Sennheiser HD25 is just to expencive for me right now.
I also realy liked the Sony mdr v700, but hearing about all the breaking story's kinda scared me, hehe.
Koss has life insurance on their headphones. Whats Sony's story there? Since you managed to brake them 4 times mubali.. I hope you got the 3 pairs for free?

i don't know how much the difference is where you are, but if you can wait, save your money. i almost got the 25SP's til i realized there's cords on both sides! another thing i like about the 25's is that almost everything is replaceable, so if it breaks, you can keep em alive.

Check out www.ultrasone.com. I have been using Pioneer DJ SE 5000's with no major complaints. But a review of this German manufacturer's cans in EQ mag (October) convinced me to give them a try. I am using the HFI-550 DJ1 for performance and tracking. They use a decentralized driver that works with the physics of the ear to produce natural surround sound. They are also MU shielded to reduce magnetic field emissions by 98%.
I like them because they are much lighter tahn my Pioneer's, have a longer cord, and reduce hearing strain and fatigue.
Only problem is distribution - you may have a hard time finding them. But, a good pair of cans is a must, and worth the $$.

I swear by my Sennheiser HD25-SP; I've had 2 pairs in the last 10 years - and that was because I left one pair in Israel by mistake! The only point of weakness is the point where the cable meets the moulded jack-plug - I recently replaced my cable because of it (it was either that or buy a soldering iron). The first pair I had, I replaced the plug that came with the cans with a high-quality Neutrik connector and never had a moment's trouble.

clearly i can't argue with this. i look forward to as many years of happy listening with my cans as you have had with yours!

well, I've got the good old RP-DJ1210 from technics, I used them under changing conditions like in the rain for hours and more evil things you shouldnt do with your headphones anyway. But they still work great after 4 Years of this torture.
only negative thing I can say about them is that the pressure on my ears hurts after 3 hours or so, then I need a break, but a friend of mine hasnt that issue, maybe he's got different ears
and btw. they sound really good....

Don't ask me why and how.. But I can choose between one of the headphones at this page:
http://www.ljudia.no/cgi-bin/no/online/af0no.cgi?category1=213%20&cart_id=
So I need you people who knows more about headphones then me to help me choose. I am going to use the headphones to
1. Listen to music on my discman/mp3 player
2. make music on my computer
Yes I know.. I should take the Sennheiser HD-25 .. But because of the high price, these are not a option.. Or else I wouldnt ask for your help would I?
So what do you say?
