Hey guys!
I´ve recently moved to a bigger apartment, and I´m just about to build my studio.
Because of some reasons, I will have to do most of my production with headphones, so I need advice from someone who knows.
I have been thinking about Ultrasone Pro 2500.. Anyone who tried them?
Budget is about €300.
Suggestions? Please help me here..

The best is to take some tracks which you know well to a store and check em out on different headphones.
Some headphones in your price range which are worth to try:
Beyerdynamic DT-880
Beyerdynamic DT-990
Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro
Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro
Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro
AKG K 701
AKG K-271 mk2
Audio Technica ATH-M50S
I'd prefer semi-closed headphones, cause with closed ones I feel as if I'm out of the world and when my girlfriend enters the room I always get scared to death cause i didn't realize that she came in.

the best sounding ones I used so far are the sennheiser hd 25 (I guess hd I mean not those dj sort)they have the punch but the big problem is after 2 houres the ears hurt really, they sit not good on ears.
So this won't be my private choice for the next ones, but the sound is great.
I tested also a few bayerdynamics ;only closed, and a few others too,and I must say some bayerdynamics are great as well ,thy sound great ,the bass range is maybe not that punchy or defined as in the sennheisers but enough to stand out amongst a lot otherts and they are comfotable to wear, which I find is a very important issue.
Forgot which bayerdynamics I mean exactly,I always forget this numbers hehe they are not that expansive)
Orange is the expert I know, this just my impressions about my testings so far. I need new ones too.And not that expansive ones. Those bayedynamics I mean cost sth like 160 euro they are cool.

i´ve got these, super http://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-990-Premium-250-Ohm/dp/B000F2BLTW open is for studio nicer, not for dj-ing. most get hot and painfull on your ears after one hour, these not. comfort is an issue. probably soundwise there are better, but these are very good to hear f.e. distortion on a kick that i dont hear on my (good) monitors. |

I like only closed.Cannot see any advantage of half closed or opens, maybe this with scaring to death when someone comes and is behind you suddenly, than closed maybe not that good - I know this too lol.
And in case you want to record sth decent to the mic closed are the only solution.
Vipal those headphones you show are looking nice.I guess they are the better version of those I mean cause of the price. They look very similar.

if you can try them be sure to check dt880 hd650 dt 990 (pro version are the samee for the dt if i m right, it just have more pression on the head )
i just know the dt880 pro it s a critical headphone not faltering at all, great clarirty, dynmics ,i really like it, bass is tight and controlled but it lack maybe some low end but it translate well . low mids are really good... i think it s my most critical reference, more than my monitors, it s maybe possible to get used on them to make a full mix that translate great but i like more to use them with my montiors as sometimes i make huge mixing mistake on them... the trick is to a/b with good mix a lot i guess... |

i think open and semi open are more detailed (depends the models offcouse..) and have a more natural sound . usually headphone made for monitoring purpose are open or semi open it seems. |

i've demoed i few headphones.
I still think the beyerdynamics is very good built quality for your money. maybe not the most pristine sound, but certainly up there amongst the best.
For what it lacks in the sound(nothing really) it makes up with comfort.
They don't sit on your ear,, they cup around your ear with nice soft quality material.. i was mostly impressed with the built qualty. They should last you a lifetime. your children will inherit them and they will still be good
excellent customer support.
they should pay me to advertise their product.

i got the dt-990..too sharp highs especially on "s" sounds in female vocals..not very transparent bass..no comparison to ultrasone..
but the beayers are still better that akg for electronic music imo..
the ultrasones are a great choice especially the pro line..since it gots a very detailed balanced sound all over the spectrum.very good stereo image and so on..if you compare them to other for about 150€ (akg/beyer) they just play in another league..
cheers
