I have a 5.1 desktop system with amp plus subwoofer. I use a pair of flat response Sennheiser's to produce, but seeing as I'm a using average onboard soundcard, the loudness isn't that great when the phones are plugging straight into it.
Could I use a splitter to hook my headphones up to the Front L/R Output of my amp and run it in Stereo with a muted sub? |

a. Don't use headphones to produce.
b. It might work - but probably too loud. Just keep the volume down. But it's gonna suck anyway.

At the moment I cant use monitors (but that will soon change) but I think flat response 'phones are good enough to produce with...Better than using a 5.1 desktop sound system. |

Well, I do A/B (/C/D) mixing on my stuff. I'm about to invest in a lot of gear soon, fortunately.
Quiet an unrelated question, but I have a built-in 5.1 soundcard. I'd like to use Traktor, is it possible to hook up the 5.1 satellites to one part of the speaker amp output and the headphones to another to practicing mixing properly with a program and cue channel rather than spltiting the two between one device. |
