How are headphones for monitoring tasks? And how are the Sennheiser HD500 as monitors?
I think that headphones will do better - because you don't have to worry about positioning the speakers, making sure nothing reflects from the walls, etc. |

Headphones and Monitors are two things you must have in a studio.
THey are both for different kind of tasks...
Monitors are the main sound source you hear and monitor every sound that comes out - including allllll freqs 20Hz to 22Khz - in many cases it's bit smaller range depends on the monitors...
now the headphones are mostly to test the Stereo , 3D positioning of the sound and other low volume sounds.
That's it. So better have them both mate :) |

if you want to hear the true sound of the track then you will have to hear it through good monitors. |
