again, no matter what the impendence is you can't plug headphones into an unamlified output, the nominal line level just isn't enough to drive the headphone elements, it's like trying to connect passive monitors directly to the soundcard output without an Amp.

uuh?.,
most soundcards i encountered were very capable at driving a headphone,..,.
anyway, if you think there is too little power then there shouldnt be a problem trying it out.,

cause most cards u encounter have a headphones out/line out that can recogdnise the line imepndance and adjust the voltage acordingly. most line out use 600 ohm impendance and headphone outs use 50-150 ohm.

i ve got a msg from sennheiser
it is possible to run them on most soundcards. ideal you ve got a built-in headphone out ( ...logically ) but it s even possible to use them on every out IF the internal out ( soft ) is set to very low. other you gona burn your phones/ears. cheapest possibilty to solve ( and very good if u got good outs ) to build a voltage divider.
...or u get a amp.
