I have watched Nausicaä, Mononoke, Totoro, Spirited away, Howls moving castle and Ponyo, each one of them great movies, great art direction, great scripts and content.
I still have to watch his other films but he has become one of my favorite directors, Nausicaä being my favorite of his movies.
He has in some way bring a revolution to animation, upon all keeping away from cliches that populate Disney/pixer/dreamworks movies, and at the same time showing his view on social topics and giving very possitive mesages.

My GF really likes his movies, I personally can't stand Japanese aesthetics and pace.

truly amazing director, visionary and animator!
my favourites by him are:
princess mononoke
totoro
porco rosso
spirited away
but i must admit that i'm getting a little bored by the same chracter set up that he's using again and again and again...
so i haven't watched ponyo. have i missed out on something special?
