hey guys , wassup ?
ok frnds ,
while working on my leads , and percussion .. i all the time feel , tht they simply dont sound FAT , inspite of all the compression , eq , reverb and processing i do to them ... as compared to released tracks ..
for example of i am working on a melody line , using 1 instance of albino .. using all 4 osc. @ the same time .. the resulting sound still dosent sound FAT , THICK and SOLID ...
same is with the percusssion and groove of the trk [ chh , ohh, perc.loops , shakers ] ..
have u guys ever felt this ???
wat do u ppl do to make them soud fat and fill up the entire space ??
pls help me on this guys ... i hope u got me right
bye and tc ...boom !

I've noticed with my own music that if I'm pleased with a sound and I find it fat (in the end, meaning not only on the spot but also the day after), that there are at least 8 different (vst) effects at once at work on that sound alone.
Unison detune makes it fatter, depends on what style you're aiming offcourse. Also try other vsti's like pro53, vanguard, fm7, sw protrance,...
Also make sure it's dynamic: lfo's on resonance, cutoff, pan, change change change...

you need to catch it in the end-when you make the sound to all.in the start it allways like that--only if you work from the start on the hz. also it will be different--eq and stuff like that.try to put in send channel compressor for make the sound more fat.

Eq out the not needed frequencies and give them a boost in volume.
You don't need all 4 osc in the albino, 2 will suffice.
Try making the entire thing an octave lower, or longer notes.
Add delay, reverb, automations, etc.
Kukan - what's the point in putting a compressor as a send effect?

mike , when u say try making the entire thing an octave lower ... u mean to say , it will natirally sound fat , and then i can se subtractive eq and cut out the unwanted freqs . the make it sounds the way i want ??
but , in some cases , depending on the synth patch , making the melody in a lower octave , many also result in sound change .. !

How's your kick and bass?? if you want your leads to sound fat it should sit on a good kick-bass- did you cut too much in the low frequencys from the leads?
put your lead in solo with your bass line and the kick and fill the empty spaces if there's such.
boost the low-mid in the leads if needed and check the volumes of course, compression is not a must in this case but it might be help- in short, eq right the 3 elements, don't cut too much from the low in the leads unless your kick and bass can fill up this space.
good luck,
  Space is the place

I recomend to double the lead to 2 octaves.
fill in notes in the lower octave but leave the line as it is. |

In addition to the stuff already mentioned, try using Albino's chorus effect (or any chorus vst) to add some life and substance to the lead |
