hello guys ,
ok , how many of you guys do Hash / weed/ marijuana in here ? specially before making music ... ?
listening to music on weed is a totally different experience .. but any of you guys ever tried mixing a track or writing some tunes after some hash ...?
pls post your experiences ... also , what differences did you notice , when you ATE hash , rather than smoking it up ??

Hmmm i usually write music when i'm under the influence (be it hash or weed)..I feel it inspires me and gives me a better understanding of what "sounds good"..
As far as eating hash is concerned never done it but its supposed to last longer as the hash keeps on slowly digesting and going into your bloodstream..But i prefer the act of rolling up and sparking a blunt!

i agree with scube 'bout the rolling act 
and almost all the times i write muzik under the influence of weed (or hash..). it has more fun! and muzik (listening or creating) is fun! so.. boom

i always try not to smoke or drink.. for me its better... off course sometimes i smoke.
Im just addicted to electronic music! no need of nothing, just my ears. When i dj its another thing, i get completly wasted sometimes but its in a party environment! |

i like to smoke some cannabis before i tweak sounds.... be it hash or weed, though often weed is more psychoactive and gives me a spacy highness!
but its not always a sucess to smoke cannabis and creating music...
and yes i have been eating cannabis aswell, weed mixed with chocolate balls... and this is for sure a more trippy mushy feeling to it...
i like to create sounds and juggle with ideas when im high....
and when i come to think of it i have had sucess when mixing and smoking... though sometimes i think its easy to mix too low when im high

the music i created on dope (it wasn't much) sounded great that evening but worse the next day. i assume that a track that sounds good with a clear mind will sound good or even better on drugs, too.
my period of regular hash-consuming is fortunately over, meanwhile i sometimes get even slightly paranoid when i (ab)use it. i had some good experiences with it tho  and for dancing on a good psytrance-party it's still a nice intensifier.
finally i think it's good for consuming music (and other things) but has to be handled with care when you want to create something.

I started smoking hash and ganja way before I was introduced to electronic music. I have written music both on and off it, it really hasn't had any affect on me either way. But I am a stoner, so who knows?

...well i agree with martyn ...i used to smoke(hash) a LOT while i was making music.....
at first with it keep me going and had a lot of ideas.......but then i realize that is bbetter (for me) make music sober, so in the next day when i listen to it , it will sound´s exacly has it sound´s in the day before........eheheheh |

and another point is that computermusic requires a lot of brain and concentration (at least for me) and dope puts a lot of fog in my head so that my thoughts don't like to focus on technical/logical things.
perhaps you know the experience... if you want to load a sample and after some time you ask yourself why you stared in that folder for over half an hour and thought of something completely different

this is different from people to people. i'm better doing everything except mixing while i'm stoned. oh but when i'm stoned the cpu breaks and everything anoy me much more |

Interesting explanation Martyn. I can understand that... For me that happens when I try to write music while drunk. I'll constantly forget simple things and nothing will sound the way I envisioned the next day.

Haha, yeah i can completley relate to that...I dont always make music stoned
(i work full time).. it can be fun and creative to take some cannabis and make music but it can also be unproductive, things like getting stuck in a loop.. and trying to keep a focus over a messy project and other things... and things like you say martyn. But sometimes one shouldnt always sit infront of the computer, taking a drum or a guitar or any instrument and play with your body, mind and soul!
Juggle or relax in someway can also be nice,
you can always get caught in a thought.
If one eliminates things that can get in the way for creativity it will be alot easier...
there are positive mind opening things in marijuana, things like looking at a flower and just soaking up the beauty of it and how fascinating it is... is a bless that one should train on in a sober state of mind.
martyn many drummers smoke cannabis they have to have control over logical and unlogical movements, and technical.
so its very different, and it depends on your self, which state of mind you are in and so on...and of course dosage is a big factor

Very interesting thread... I have pondered this much
sometimes I find I can be VERy productive after smoking weed, I get into a bit of a haze but when I come out an hour or two later i find I've done heaps of good work, often I get a lot of the really annoying uncreative stuff done, that I couldn't be bothered to do when sober...
This is probably a bit unusual I reckon, but when stoned, I can be happy to sit at my computer and listen to the same wierd blippy noise for 30 mins until it has just the right amount of a certain frequency that I'm sure it needs...I would never have the patience if I wasn't ripped.
maybe it's just my attention to detail that gets enhanced... interesting

i could HEAR the spaces in between beats , so exactly knew how much of delay / reverb to give !
i didnt have any of those FOGS in my head , worked properly and was even getting new IDEAS to achieve the sound i wanted ,
although , i assume , no body in here in will deny , the music sounds a lot more LIVE , wen ure high ..... and maybe u just need to find the right balance .. ?
