I ask myself this question a lot, and sometimes it seems like the answer is yes, and sometimes it seems like the answer is no.

Most of the music which is today released as "progressive psytrance" to me either sounds like progressive house/tech house with some psytrance elements

or it just sounds like fullon psytrance slowed down

I'm a gigantic fan of Son Kite's last album, and honestly it's really rather infuriating that I can't find any music which even approaches its subtle, progressive, melodic style. Just swingy pop-click-tssssss music and slow fullon.

To me it sounds like a hightech remake of German '80s disco. Somebody here already mentioned similarities between Neelix and Modern Talking. I think it's true about this genre in general.

What about this:

Would this qualify as psy progressive?

Are you in high school or something?

Sorry if it's petty, but I can't stand it when people say this

Yeap we definitley need more Solid Snake style no doubt!!

The blip blop minimal has got to go from the psytrance floor. The energy just isnt there. In a club It works better but still doesnt do much for me.

I think many psy progressive producers are trying to get into the club scene because you actually make money at clubs. fair enough. but keep it original and unique.

Some nice progressive acts you may like

Sensient
Neelix
Daydin
Feuerhake
Lish
Audiomatic
Some of Vibraspheres tracks

You might like Felguk, although its a bit "different",more house and mainstream vibes but totally worth checking out.

Once again, you may like Neelix only if you didn't get your fill of Modern Talking and Bad Boys Blue 25 years ago. Which is to say you're either American or younger than 25

To play something that vaguely reminds me of something I played 25 years ago but does not bring back any memories - a strange proposition.

love the time wn the proggy - psy had real psychedelia in it.i mean real........like

son kite
lunaspice
sun control species
antix
sensifeel
triplex
deoy
earsugar
ticon

these r had to find these days, but new artist like

vertex
magoon
zyce
vice
cyklones
liquid soul
d-root

have still some juice in them.but they all have been diluted by the other tech-house proggy who release albums under false psy-proggy category.
thus making it hard to grab a good1.

at this point i wud like to raise a question

is so called production value killing the psychedelia in psychedelic musik?

Yes it has, for me progressive has suffer more that psy in the lack of talent in the last years.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."
