do not sell the nord
i have the 1 , the fm is unique and harsh, wont find it anywhere else, the Virus fm is muddy while the other shines and screams like mad, totally different sound

Assaf, not sure if it´s cooler, but it´s on the same price range at the moment... ;-), and the nord Lead is already a classic IMO.

The nord 2 though is not that complex of a synth and has been explored to death for psytrance.
I don't think there is much reason to keep it for collectible purpose either because there are much cheaper synths with more collectible potential...a mint prophecy that doesn't have fucked up outputs comes to mind.

prophecy has been explored to death too but i really enjoy this synth ,you make me think mine is sleeping in a closet since 10 years , i sold it to a friend he never used it so maybe it s time to bring it back home and use that b52 growling preset again hehe , they should make a soft synth with the real codes... |

Prophecy presets have been explored to death but its a much deeper synth than the nl2. I actually don't think the surface has even been scratched much, but its hard to buy one off ebay because its a good chance the outputs are messed up.
You should consider buying a nord modular 1 instead of buying back your nl2. They keep going up in price used as I don't think nearly as many were made vs the nl2.

I'd keep the nord... I don't OWN the TI, but I've been using it for several years and I think that it's an alright synth, but I like the sounds I get from a virus A better than what I get from the TI. The discovery is an amazing synth and some of the leads are spot on like the nord, but there is a character about Clavia's stuff that really cuts through the mix wonderfully.
That being said... I really like the sound quality of the blofield. a bit of a pain to build patches in, but really good sound quality IMHO.
Keep the nord man... or get a G2.

i own a nl2 for a long time now... and i still manage to come up with new stuff and sounds from it...
it has an awsome sound and with a little proccessing it becomes so BIG. it certinly blows away any plugin.
about the dicovery... i made an exact comparison between them,I bulit the exact same sound on both and the result was crystal clear . the discovery doesnt even come close... it sounds bad ! real bad !
the nord was so much better it was so obvious i cant believe ppl actually think the discovery resembles the nord... it maybe works the same and looks the same ... but the difference in sound is enormous.
if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

I sold the virus ti and still hung on the nord modular , for what its worth id never ever sell mine.
On that note id like to disagree with you Glitch Capetwon since that oppinion is very subjective and there are quite a few growly fm capabilities possible from other synths/modulars that can obilerate the nord fm (subjective too innit:P)

I really miss the lack of more modulation options.
For the type of sounds I want to create, I have to do it all with automation.
But automation is just a pain the neck (in Cubase at least) to me!
Working with automation really kills my 'creative' flow.
