I had a go at stomper 4.0 when i was just starting, and didn't think much of it then... Now i have a lot more experience and i just downloaded the new version and i am very surprised at the power of this little piece of freeware...

It actually sounds big (wouldn't say huge, but for a software it really sounds big)... The simple sinewave at C1 with all the envelops completely flat and only one osc already sounds fat... in fact, all the osc's sound fat and have a lot of possible timbres because they all have pulse width knobs (and u can layer any amount of osc's and filters, nice filters too btw, not as nice as the osc's though, but they do what they're supposed to do)...

It's actually a great tool to make loopable waves to load in samplers or wavetable synths... It is also very good at making psykicks and the corresponding bass (u have soooo much control and possibilities)... Not to forget other kinds of percussion (but i feel that there are better tools to make snares or hihats/cymbals, drumsynth from image line for example) I'm gonna have some more fun with it... Try it out!!

There is one big problem... he always renders the waves in such a way that it goes down under the line first instead of over it... Which is not very good as colin once explained (has something to do with speakers). So u always have to inverse the wave u render (doesn't really change the sound, but it makes sure that the speaker 'push' first because of the wave going up, and 'pull' after that when the wave goes down, instead of pulling first, which causes a little loss of punch)

i made some mistakes in my first post

- it doesn't sound big or huge, and there is no theoretical reason why it should. I got that impression because sometimes u make a wave with just the right harmonics, and it gives the impression to sound big.

- it IS a great tool to make loopable waves for samplers or wavetable synths (ex. if u want to recreate the sawtooth of the moog, u just need to know how that osc looks, and u can easily create a sawtooth that looks exactly the same with this tool, then load it in ur favorite sampler, use it as an osc and u have a convincing moog-like sound, ofcourse, without the moog filter it won't sound exactly the same)

- the rendering problem i mention is false... There are rendering problems though, sometimes u have to open it in a audio editor to repair the render (clicks and cracks).

- it IS a great tool to create psykicks and basses, the moment i made one i'll post it.. Right now i have a great psykick, and a good psybass, but they don't fit together yet...
